Picture Perfect Views in Ras Al Khaimah

Caution: These may take your breath away

The northernmost emirate of the UAE, Ras Al Khaimah is a gorgeous destination any time of the year. What everybody loves about this desert retreat is that it offers a dynamic setting with sprinkles of beautiful sandy beaches, lagoons, hot springs, and plenty of epic places riddled with history, against a unique background of the evocative Hajar Mountains that offer the most spectacular panoramic views of its varied landscapes – all in one place! Packing in many opportunities for you to take pictures of some breath-taking sceneries, RAK is an ideal place to embark on a visual journey. Here are places that are sure to offer some picture perfect views in Ras Al Khaimah to satisfy your eyes, intrigue your mind, and take your breath away:

Al Jeer Port

Renowned as Ras Al Khaimah’s most picturesque port, Al Jeer Port offers numerous opportunities to enjoy the scenic views of the Northern Hajar Mountains around the marina complex located at the border of Musandam-Oman border. The excellent berthing facilities for yachts and private leisure vessels, the adjacent sailing club and the Al Jeer beach furnish it as one of the most popular tourist destinations. The port also offers a vantage point for watching ships and boats sail in and out of the port along the glittering stretch of its coast. Do not miss the views of the beach and the mountain across from the marina at sunset, it is stunning!

The Ghost Town of Al Jazira Al Hamra

Al Jazira Al Hamra was a small thriving coastal settlement in south of Ras Al Khaimah that saw the oil boom and its Emirati settlers deserting the village when the pearl diving and fishing industry collapsed. What is partially swallowed by the desert is now known as the ‘Ghost Town’ of RAK. The abandoned village draws several tourists and photographers who love to capture its haunting beauty and its unique architecture, or go for a midnight flashlight adventure.

Dhayah Fort

Apart from offering plenty of leisure opportunities, RAK also promises several historical attractions abound with unparalleled photo opportunities. Dhayah Fort in Sur Wadi is one such beautiful gem that was a defence post built in the 16th century to keep off invaders. The mud-brick fortress not only reveals the trading history of RAK, but also offers a vantage point to watch the beautiful desert landscape in complete tranquility.

Jabal Jais Mountain

Rising more than 1,900 meters above sea level, Jebel Jais is the tallest mountain in the UAE and, perhaps, the biggest attraction of all. A mountain safari to the summit is the best way to experience the natural and breath-talking vistas of the mountain at sunrise/sundown. The road up is rugged with a good measure of canyons, gorges and rocky valleys, and offers tourists an adventurous photography-based hiking trip.

Al Marjan Island

It is almost impossible to imagine the coastal city of Ras Al Khaimah without the archipelago of four man-made islands, Al Marjan. The Corniche and the Promenade on the Treasure Island of Al Marjan offer fabulous views of the sea and the Al Hamra Marina has several photographic hotspots to take in the spectacular beauty of the island and its berths.
