The must-do activities for your weekend in Perth

Here's a list of activities to help you make the most of your weekend in Perth.

Western Australia is one of the best places to visit year-round. It is the kind of place that you visit and fall in love with over and over again. You will be blown away by all of the fun and exciting things you can do in Perth. If you’re considering taking a weekend in Perth, here are some things to do in Perth this weekend. Let’s go!

Enjoy brunch in a chill café in Perth

A staple of a fun weekend is brunch, but if you're not a local, finding the best brunch spot in Perth can be tricky. Fortunately, locals will quickly tell you to visit Gather on Hay. The vibrant cafe is always buzzing with excitement and the bright styling is perfect for a fun morning meal before you explore the city. Grab a seat inside or outside—the outdoor area is even pet friendly for anyone visiting with their furry friend. French toast and a coffee for you, refreshing water for them.

Explore Kings Park & Botanic Garden

Alongside the impressive arts and culture that Perth has to offer, there's also plenty of natural beauty for you to enjoy. Kings Park & Botanic Gardens is one of the world’s largest and most beautiful inner-city parks. If staying near nature is important to you, you can even book a room at Tribe Perth Kings Park, so the park is always within your sights.
Walk the Lotterywest Federation Walkway for treetop panoramic views and the opportunity to learn about Perth's rich history. Explore play areas where little ones can run about and play in the footprints of dinosaurs. Wander the Western Australian Botanic Garden and marvel at the flora that calls WA home. And climb the DNA tower to enjoy views of the entire park and across to distant Rottnest Island.

Take in the views from the Bell Tower

The Bell Tower is located on the stunning banks of the Swan River in the well-known Barrack Square. The tower includes 18 bells, 12 of which are historic bells from the St Martin-in-the-Fields church in Trafalgar Square, London.
From the Observation Deck, you can take in breathtaking views of the Swan River, Perth, and the Darling Range. Time your visit to enjoy the marvellous peals of sound the bells make when they ring on Thursdays and Sundays from 12pm to 1pm.

Visit the WA Museum Boola Bardip

The recently redeveloped WA Museum Boola Bardip is a full cultural immersion experience. Entrance is free, so it's perfect for anyone looking for free things to do in Perth or families looking for an affordable activity together, it's just worth noting some exhibitions do attract a fee.
The museum provides a stunning experience that takes place over multiple floors. It's home to several incredible exhibitions that track WA’s history over thousands of years. Exhibitions range from the Dinosaurs of Patagonia to contemporary works and live arts. You can always check their website for upcoming events when you plan your weekend in Perth.

Get A Cute Selfie with a Quokka on Rottnest Island

Only a short ferry ride away from the city is the ever so famous and beautiful, Rottnest Island. It is an amazing day trip from Perth that is affordable and easy to do. All you need to do is jump on a boat from Fremantle or the city and spend the day snorkelling, cycling around the island, eating delicious food, or kicking back on the beach.
However, what Rottnest is really famous for is the resident native quokkas. These adorable creatures wander around the island and are more than friendly. In fact, you might even be able to get up close and take a selfie with them! Find our Rottnest Island Trip Itinerary here for more information.

Check Out the Scarborough Beach Foreshore

Since its development a few years ago, the Scarborough Beach foreshore is home to one of the absolute hotspots in Perth. Both visitors and locals love this beautiful spot and spend time and time again revisiting it. It is jam-packed with fun activities that will keep you busy all day.
Some of these activities are even free! You can head down to the beach and enjoy some surfing action, or even head to the huge skate bowl to skateboard up a storm. There is also a basketball court and mini rock-climbing wall with a huge kid’s playground.
If you prefer a more relaxed visit, simply spend your time lounging on the grassy knoll, watching all the action go down.

Cottesloe Beach

Perth is very well-known for all of its stunning beaches. Cottesloe Beach (or Cott, as it is lovingly known by the locals) is one of Australia’s most iconic beaches. Better yet, it is only 20 minutes away from Perth City by public transport. It is extremely popular due to its laid-back surf culture.
Enjoy clear waters, unlike anything you've seen before, all day long, and then grab a bite to eat at one of the many pubs and restaurants nearby.

Check Out the Fremantle Markets

The Fremantle Markets are a must for a weekend in Perth. In fact, the markets are some of the best in all of WA, if not all of Australia.
You'll find fresh and local produce, clothing, handcrafted souvenirs, delicious food, and a beautiful, buzzing atmosphere with over 100 years of heritage and culture. Best of all, there is no entrance fee which makes it the ideal day out for family fun. The Fremantle Markets are a great day out, even if you don’t love shopping.

Take a Cruise on the Swan River

If the sun is out and you’re looking for something to do, simply jump on a cruise down the Swan River. You can relax and unwind while you enjoy a scenic cruise along the river and enjoy stunning views between Perth and the Port of Fremantle. You can enjoy sightseeing and check things off of your Perth bucket list on this cruise. Keep an eye out for popular points of interest, like the restored Swan Brewery, the Bell Tower, and plenty more.
