We chose Pullman Zagreb specifically because of its premium positioning and higher price point, expecting reliability, efficiency, and a smooth stay. What we experienced was the exact opposite. We arrived at the hotel around 12:00 noon, as our flight landed at 11:00. We explained to the reception staff that we had a very tight schedule: attending the Dinamo Zagreb vs. Hajduk Split match in the evening, visiting the Christmas market afterward, and then needing to rest early because of an early flight the next morning. We also mentioned that one reason for booking this hotel was to use the sauna before going to bed. We asked whether we could leave our luggage and complete the check-in formalities in advance, so that we would only need to pick up the key cards later. Two staff members explicitly told us this would be no problem at all, assuring us that it would be quieter later in the day. We trusted this information. When we returned around 19:00, the situation at reception was absolute chaos. Two guests had ongoing room issues, which dragged on endlessly, while only one staff member was handling the entire check-in process. The queue quickly built up to at least 40 people and did not move. No additional staff came to help, not even from the bar. The receptionist was clearly overwhelmed, visibly stressed, and sweating — doing his best, but left completely alone. We waited 1.5 hours just to receive our room key. As a result, it was no longer possible to bring up our luggage, change, shower, and use the sauna. One of the main reasons for booking this hotel was therefore completely lost. This was extremely disappointing. Such delays might be expected at a cheap hostel — but not at a Pullman hotel. What made it even worse was the complete lack of guest management: – no attempt to organize the crowd – no seating offered – no drink or gesture of goodwill – no proactive communication And this happened between 19:00 and 20:30, which is not even a peak arrival time. To make matters worse, we submitted a formal complaint afterward and never received any response. No explanation, no apology, no compensation — nothing. For a hotel that markets itself as premium, this experience was unacceptable, poorly managed, and deeply disappointing. I would strongly advise future guests with tight schedules or expectations of service quality to reconsider.

Room was fine. But check in and check out took ages - many guest were waiting and only 1 person behind the counter (she was kind but she was suffering). Restaurant was closed due to an event and no way to get anything to eat. Not even room service. Very annoying after a busy day.
