There is a lovely Atrium bar at the Novotel, which makes a good first impression. Sadly, that is where it ends. Impressions can be misleading. We waited at the bar for ages before anyone even appeared to serve the queue of guests. Then we went to our room. I have photos of peeling paint and carpet. It 3was advertised as a queen size bed but it was really more like a double. There was a room service tray outsoide the door of one of our neighbours since we checked in at approximately 2 pm until about the same time the next day. We were told by the Accor service team that this is a 4 star hotel. I agreed to a nin refundable proce, because of that representation. Even the check in staff seemed surprised. They, at least, were lovely, by the way. Then at breakfast the next day (Anzac Day, so crowds were to be expected) there were no tea bags apart from herbal in teh restuarant, I had to ask one of teh staff, who told me it was her first day and she couldn't find any. I went to someone more senior and weas given two bags and told that is all they had. We had booked for three nights but checked out after one. The Accor hotels in Darwin CBD are not up to standard.

The room number 317 was not up to standard, everything was dirty, especially the carpet. the property had a stale smell, Not one door would close, Balcony ceiling had been removed and not replaced. Bathroom was far from been clean. We were given complimentary breakfast , not charged for an upgrade which was appreciated however i should checked out as overall it was disgusting and at the end of the day i feel that i should get a complete refund . really dirty room, the phone didn’t work - which is kinda a safety thing, but additionally became a complete nuisance when there was a party in the room next door that went until 6 am. the stench of the room is truly unforgettable, everything was left with filth all over it. they moved rooms for me but to a smaller one without compensation. the smaller room, however, was clean. it left me broken, fatigued and in absolute tears from exhaustion. i wanted to enjoy this work trip that required a good night’s sleep and focus. never had a problem with a novotel but this was understaffed, filthy (the one room), and dangerously ill equipped.
