A disappointing stay

While the lounges and restaurant were comfortable and well maintained, our room was very disappointing. It was tiny, smaller in size than many motel rooms. Tea making facilities were in a cupboard without lighting. The bathroom needed updating and cleaners did not remove all their cleaning equipment after serving the room. Our biggest complaint is that we have written two letters outlining some of our concerns and as yet, have received no acknowledgment. I was reluctant to leave such a negative review online but feel I have no option after this failure to respond.

Room nice and warm. Room clean, shower wasnt the best the volume. Car park needs to be closer to room, especially when needing to go back and forward to car. Unfortunately the promise of catering for special dietary requirements was not met during the four days stay.

Absolutely do not stay here. Believe every single poor review or comment because they are all true and overtake anything good that this property had to offer - to be honest we didn’t experience a single thing we would return for. We visited in winter (June) and the room was absolutely freezing. The heating did not work despite several calls to reception. The rooms are dated and old and the fireplace downstairs is gas and not that warm. Check in was a nightmare with only one staff on at check in time at 2pm so the line was all the way to through reception. Staff have no follow through, I called about the heating in the room and was promised a call back which I didn’t get And had to call back two more times to get anyone to do anything. Do not stay here even if desperate. It’s cold and horrible and not very clean. A real disappointment and ruined a birthday getaway.

Great location near nice wineries. The restaurant had delicious food breakfast. Lunch and dinner, though limited menu. Friendly and attentive staff Cozy in front of many fireplaces with a few private rooms to relax with a drink by the fire. Playing pool Nice grounds

We stayed here years ago and it was lovely. I was a bit hesitant to return after seeing some concerning reviews but we got an awesome deal with Luxury Escapes so we went back. Look, if you are after a super modern Hilton style hotel kinda person this place probably isn't for you. If you are looking for old world charm, peace and quiet, lots of well furnished and homely areas with fire places to play a game or read a book, beautiful gardens to sit and escape the stupid-ness of the world, you will like it. Is the building old? Yep. Do they still use actual keys to open the doors? Yep. Are the windows really old? Do the staff need a few more training days? Yep. Does the metal trim all around the building need a paint touch up? Yep. Does the roof need a good pressure hose? Yep. But it's all part of the ambience. It takes you back to a time when things were more simple. We stayed in room 70 and when they say it's "petite" it sure is, but good enough for two adults. There is a giant bed, a lounge, clothes cupboard (drawers and hanging space), ironing board and iron, large window, bar fridge, nice enough view, aircon, TV, giant mirror, blow dryer, modern bathroom (toilet is a bit close to the wall though). It's compact but fine for showering, sleeping, shagging and watching TV. Management - get the bathroom fan cleaned before the next guests go in please and pass our compliments on to the chef, the food was amazing! Overall it is a lovely place to unwind.
