Nice hotel, terrible housekeeping

Generally we loved the pool and the space in our two bed apartment but the housekeeping service was terrible. We had to ask for housekeeping to come the first day and although they did after that, they kept taking our towels (pool and beach) and every day after that I had to call and ask for towels again. It was bizarre. They would leave hand towels and a small wash towel and nothing else. When I’d call and ask, they would say, “yes, lovely we’ll bring some now”. As if it was normal. So strange! On the third day I explained it had happened every day except the first and she didn’t really respond to that or apologise. Is there a towel shortage?! That was all really frustrating especially when you have three kids cold from the pool, waiting for showers! Otherwise a nice place with well designed apartments and slightly dated furniture. Breakfast was nice, not great.

Be careful of private rooms

TLDR: Do not stay in room 286 managed by Private Escapes. They do not maintain the room and are a bunch of liars. Disgraceful how Pullman Resort markets privately managed rooms under their own brand but do not take any responsibility for the issues. Sea Temple Port Douglas Apartment - 286 We booked this apartment with the understanding that it was a 5 star luxury penthouse apartment as it was so advertised, with a price per night of $645 that reflected that expectation. In short we were extremely disappointed with the quality of the apartment which negatively impacted our holiday. The apartment is run down, not adequately cleaned and has not received basic ongoing maintenance with many problems as detailed below: Ensuite toilet had faeces in it when we arrived; Door handle to the rear balcony broke off and in so doing hurt and bruised my thumb and the sliding door was extremely difficult to open; Without the ability to lock the balcony door; a safe would have been very useful, this also didn’t work and obviously hadn’t worked for a long time as the batteries had exploded; The BBQ was completely unusable - the igniter did not work so the property manager said we should go and buy a BBQ lighter, so we made a specific trip to Coles to do that, along with purchasing and preparing items for a BBQ dinner. The BBQ lighter did get the thing going, however you could not regulate the temperature and as soon as you closed the lid it went out, a complete disaster of an evening; The spa water temperature was barely warm with no obvious means of increasing it, making it pointless to use. The surrounding wooden deck facia board was lose and broke away – which my daughter almost fell over, and the spa cover was in complete tatters; The top of the cooktop knobs came away as soon as you tried to use them; Dishwasher lower tray wheel broken, falling to one side every time you pulled it out; Fridge shelves and compartment doors broken; The left hand ensuite basin would not drain and leaked into the cupboard beneath onto the hair dryer stored there - a real safety hazard; Ensuite vanities in rubbish condition for a so called luxury penthouse apartment; Ensuite vanity cupboard had not been cleaned, with previous occupants hair everywhere; Roman blinds to balcony on left side would not stay in place; Dryer control knob fell off; The lounge room and master bedroom TVs are old such that you cannot use any of the streaming services or YouTube much to the kids dismay. Again for a supposedly 5 star luxury apartment in this day and age a smart TV should be a given; and Microwave as old as the hills not exactly an expensive item to renew. After arriving and becoming aware of all these problems we informed the apartment management - Private Escapes of all the issues, the balcony sliding door handle was fixed, however none of the other problems were addressed. Private escapes informed us that these issues were unprecedented, however upon checking previous reviews (which we should have done more thoroughly prior to booking) it became quickly apparent this was entirely untrue, many of the issues we raised had been raised many months previously. For this price point the apartment should be thoroughly clean and at least functional, which this apartment was not. It is also obvious there is no impetus by the apartment owner to fix the problems previous occupants have raised.

Wonderful resort

5 girlfriends celebrated our upcoming 60th birthdays and stayed a week at this amazing resort in a 3 bedroom penthouse with private rooftop spa. The resort was amazing, we loved the pool and the staff were awesome. We visited the restaurant twice and were looked after like rockstars, the food and cocktails were delicious. We were lucky enough to attend the Resort's Fire Temple event on Saturday night and we had a wonderful night and once again were treated like rockstars due to our upcoming 60ths. We were only 10 minutes by taxi $30)/shuttle ($8ea) to Port Douglas and only short wait times. You can walk along the beach to Port Douglas in about an hour and we walked to the local pub in about 15 minutes. Cannot fault the resort staff and the awesome accommodation.

Dirty, stained duvet

The staff were wonderful and I cannot fault them. The restaurant staff particularly were delightful. However the accommodation was disappointing and dated. We were particularly concerned by the bed and bedding. The pillows were foam and by far the most uncomfortable we have encountered and the duvet was brown and stained. It always revealed itself by the end of the night and clearly many, many people had had similar contact with it. Most unpleasant. A resort such as this, purporting to offer luxury, needs to hold itself to a higher standard. A shame when the staff work so hard.

Lugar gostoso, muito bom para criancas, piscina que comeca rasa e depois vai afundando, criancas se divertem no raso, tudo muito limpo. Transporte para o centro muito bom, e muito facil, mesmo pra quem nao fala ingles. O apartamento tin ha 2 quartos 2 banheiros, sala, cozinha, varanda e um terraco com uma jacuzzi churrasqueira. Foi alugado um apartamento.
