Very friendly staff and good service. Had a room with a balcony where the Spirit of Tasmania passed by which was quite the sight. Rooms were big and comfortable beds. Carparking was off site but only a short walk away. Ideal location providing easy access in and out of Devonport,

Wonderful place to stay - go elsewhere for breakfast!

Enjoyed a very relaxing and comfortable 3 night stay here recently. Our room was clean, welcoming and very quiet. The double glazed windows ensured we slept peacefully without the usual intrusion of street noise and sirens we’ve had in the past from other city hotels. Still has that “new” feel without the signs of wear and tear you expect in most other hotels. The much promoted central location was an ideal launch pad for our explorations and activities but also provides ample other options for food choices within easy walking distances. Strongly recommend you do an online search for alternative food outlets than the in-house Mr. Good Guy restaurant. Unless you have a breakfast package and plenty of time, there are many other eateries in the precinct that offer better breakfast services. In hindsight, it would have been cheaper and quicker to eat elsewhere, but we had an included breakfast deal that proved to be anything but a good deal. Breakfast “service” was clunky, awkward and slow. Observed over a few days they were short staffed and making numerous mistakes due to pressure. Table clearing, wait times for barista coffee and customer service was abysmal. Stressed staff being curt and abrupt with guests is not conducive to the start of anyone’s day. Several business guests, on tight timelines, even left breakfast before their barista coffee order was delivered after 25mins. Don’t bother paying for breakfast here if you’re time poor and need your special morning coffee order as a priority. Of course filter coffee is an option but you’ll need to wait again for any assistance with alternative milks. Using share ride services we were also fortunate in avoiding the car parking dilemmas that other guests were experiencing. In sorting out a glitch with our account, the reception manager was attentive to our needs and gave the impression he was sincerely interested in assisting us as Novotel customers. Would have no hesitation in staying there again, just wouldn’t waste time and money on having any in-house meals.

Good and Disappointing all in one stay.

Fabulous location and views however feeling special as an Accor Member is not their specialty anymore. No welcome card or little gifts that were once a feature ! Talking of menu, the breakfast has lost its appeal as well. No bircher muesli; a 30 minute wait for an omlette that had to be returned to the kitchen due to it not being cooked properly and poached eggs that looked like soup, again after a 30 minute wait ! Even muffins had to be asked for whereas in the past food was automatically replenished when they had run out. Management had clearly underestimated the number of diners as only two restaurant staff were doing everything while would be attenders were lined up and waiting to be accommodated. Limited number of cups for a morning tea and no flavored yoghurt let alone bread. Just about everything had to be asked for and it was only 9.00am ! Not the experience of previous stays and enough to make us go elsewhere the next day for breakfast!

Enjoyed everything from the moment we step in to the moment we stepped out . Staff we courteous polite . Buffet was fresh and delicious and our room was beautiful with amazing views . We live in NSW and love to return and stay with you in the future .

Last minute booking

Had an unexpected short stay in Devonport and was lucky enough to get a very last minute reservation at the Novotel, had a Superior Ocean View King Bed room which was all that was available at the time but we were just happy to have somewhere to stay. A very new hotel less than 18 months old I believe at the time we stayed. Room was excellent, vary spacious, well decorated, great facillities throughout and the view was great. All the staff we dealt with were helpful and friendly. There is an onsite restaurant on the ground level, due to our late afternoon arrival we didn't dine in, I assume would have been fully booked anyway but fortunately room service was an option. Being a busy night in the restaurant our meals took about an hour to arrive as the restaurant was very busy...so fair enough!! Food was tasty and greatly appreciated we'd had a long day. There are phones in the guest room but also an option to use an online food ordering system too. Overall very happy we were able to stay at the Novotel, I don't think it would be essential to upgrade to the room we had to have as it was a last minute booking I imagine the quality of all grades of rooms in the hotel are very good throughout. PARKING TIPS: Prior to the stay I has assumed there was some self parking and Valet parking on the hotel site, as we drove past with the hotel on our right I saw what I thought may have been underground parking, went to turn in but then saw a barrier gate that I think said 'Valet Parking" on it so I had to assume staff access only and swung back out onto the main road (Best St) and drove around the block instead. There is in fact a fairly new looking public car park about one block up from the Novotel near the corners of Best & Fenton Streets which is the nearest place to self park. If you want to valet park you need to pull up on the relatively small forecourt off street at the hotels front doors, it was very full when we arrived (6pm ish) so had to drive round the block a few times before we could find a space. Overall the parking on arrival if you've never stayed here before is the thing that's most likely to stress you out, hopefully my review offers some decent advice. OVERALL I would recommend The Novotel and would happily stay here again, great location, convenient for shops and cafes etc and as previously mentioned staff very nice.
