Have stayed here at least 2-3 days each week all this year. Staff are always so welcoming and friendly. It makes travelling for business bareable. Unfortunately the walls in the hotel seem to be so thin and in adjoining rooms noise from your neighbour is amplified through the adjoining door. Staff have always accommodated a room change when noisey neighbours arrive. But it is a shame people are so rude. Maybe there could be reminders (signage at the least) to guests to keep noise down after a certain time, especially mid-week when most guests are there for business and need to get up early for work.

My son and I stayed in a twin room (219). Staff very pleasant on arrival and insist on using the self check in (and out) kiosk. Although it seems there is new carpet throughout this building, the room is in urgent need of refurbishment for this price point, averaging $200pn. The driveway was closed due to resurfacing for that weekend, but nothing was done at all and there are pot holes everywhere which reflects the interiors condition also. The toilet seat won’t stay up and flops on you whilst seated. Lack of power points. Advertised that the TV was smart and you could stream, but ours wasn’t so. Our window overlooked a concrete building full of graffiti. Although I left out the housekeeping sign, nobody cleaned our room for our stay. The hand towel ring was literally hanging by a thread off the vanity. I gave the 2 stars for the lovely, friendly staff and the buffet breakfast was lovely as well as reasonable value, discounted if booked the night before. It’s a shame the rooms were the letdown as this is the place you spend most of your time. The beds were comfortable and the pod coffee was a great inclusion. A reasonable position in good proximity to the supermarkets and take away outlets, but we needed to drive to restaurants.

I could hear everything in the adjacent rooms, and the street noise kept me awake until the early hours. A king bed is NOT 2 twin beds pushed together. There was no evidence of the renovation that was claimed to have occurred. The hotel felt old and tired.

Had a lovely stay at the Mercure Newcastle. The place is centrally located for anyone travelling to Newcastle. It has a nice restaurant and very comfortable beds. The staff (esp Karen and Maddie) were very attentive. Highly recommended 👍

Overnight business trip accompanied by my wife, who was keen to explore and get some beach time in. Hotel is quite central and convenient if you have a car. Parking was free, on site and reasonably secure . Close enough to downtown but not deep enough to get stuck. I chose the automated check in as there were a few people in front at check-in. Worked really well with two keys dispensed, after confirming the booking. As others have noted the hotel is a little dated and the fresh paint and new wall hangings can't cover a lack of power outlets and dated but functional bathrooms - please provide the non-slip mats without request in the shower/baths. Pool area fits the general vide but was cool and refreshing.
