Hi there, I’d like to provide some feedback regarding my recent stay at Mercure perth on Hay The hotel felt outdated and was located off the main area, with rooms below standard. After a full day at a conference, facilities like a gym or pool would have been appreciated. Additionally, the customer service across housekeeping, front desk, and dining was unsatisfactory, with staff unable to assist with basic requests. Very poor ***

Great location that sadly the hotel didn’t match up to.

Arriving in Perth on a late night flight, it was gone midnight when we checked in. Had to wait what seemed like ages for the night receptionist to come to the door, but was probably only a couple of minutes, but when you’re tired… Managed to make it to breakfast 15 minutes before it finished, we were not met with a good morning or other such friendly greeting but “breakfast finish’s in 15 minutes.” Upon examining the food congealed scrambled eggs, baked bean mush and crispy pastries were among the delicacies on offer. Barely a glass for the depleted fruit juice or a cup for the coffee were to be seen. The following day, we made breakfast 2 hours earlier, but alas, the same congealed eggs and beans were on offer. Along with a not so, but nearly depleted supply of glasses & cups. On one of the days of our stay, we were off on an excursion early so asked for a takeaway breakfast, we were offered a choice and asked what we wanted. We selected a cheese sandwich and egg sandwich, or so we thought. What we actually got was a single sandwich with two fried eggs, clearly prepared the night before! I will add that on the day we departed, the breakfast area was well stocked, eggs not so congealed, beans no so mushy, pastries no so crispy, staff more welcoming. The rooms and corridors looked tired and needed a lick of paint, the doors were thin meaning we could hear the conversation of guests returning/leaving rooms throughout the night. Housekeeping outside the rooms was tardy, with a set of eating utensils left outside a room for over 48 hours and glasses I assumed once contained drinks from the bar, left in the corridor for equal periods of time. 10 minute walk from Elizabeth quay & the train station, 5 minutes from the Royal mint, good location. If and when I return to Perth though, I won’t be staying at the Mercure Perth on Hay street.

We loved it here at Mecure on Hay.

The bed was comfortable. The rooms were clean and made up every day. The free breakfast was fantastic. Staff were wonderful. We couldn't fault our stay here. We would definitely stay here again. Perfect location. The Hop and Huddle was great for dinner. Meals were very yummy. We highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Mercure on Hay for 4 nights as part of a business trip to Perth. I booked this as a Mercure hotel without giving it much thought. I stay in the Mercure brand fairly regularly as a generally affordable option which offers consistent quality. This is not the case at the Mercure on Hay. Front desk was unmanned, which means using (trying to use) a barely functioning self check in. Rooms are dated but OK, while bathrooms look like a visit to grandma's house before you talked her into finally getting that renovation done. Frankly, the bathroom was gross. Noise levels are fairly high, with each banging door and corridor conversation echoing through the place. The helicopter arriving to the hospital across the road sounded like it was in the room with you. It tended to arrive at about 3am. Barista at the coffee shop downstairs randomly overcharged me for my coffees. No idea why that irritated me so much. Honestly, this isn't what you're looking for. There are another 10 or so hotels within a few minute's walk - choose one of those.
