이번 라플스 호텔 투숙에서 겪은 최악의 서비스와 상식 이하의 대처에 대해 깊은 분노와 실망감을 표합니다. 저는 이번에 어머니, 그리고 고작 3개월 된 어린 딸과 함께 라플스라는 브랜드 명성에 걸맞은 휴식을 기대하며 방문했습니다. 하지만 결과는 아기까지 데리고 밤을 꼬박 새워야 했던 악몽 그 자체였습니다. 저녁부터 방 전체에 쿵쿵거리는 베이스 소음과 진동이 울려 퍼졌습니다. 보안 매니저가 직접 와서 확인했을 때, 복도에서부터 이미 소음이 들린다고 명백히 인정했습니다. 즉, 호텔 측은 아래층 가라오케 바가 새벽 3시 반까지 소음을 유발한다는 사실을 뻔히 알면서도, 저희 가족에게 사람이 투숙할 수 없는 결함이 있는 방을 고의로 배정했다는 뜻입니다. 더 기가 막힌 것은 호텔 측의 대처였습니다. 자정 무렵, 이미 모든 짐을 풀고 아기가 간신히 잠든 상황에서 호텔 측은 방을 옮기라는 무책임한 제안을 했습니다. 결국 저희 가족은 아래층 바가 문을 닫은 새벽 3시 반이 넘어서야 겨우 눈을 붙일 수 있었습니다. 비록 사후에 환불을 받긴 했으나, 그 환불이 3개월 된 어린 아기와 노모가 밤새도록 겪어야 했던 신체적 고통과 정신적 스트레스를 절대 보상할 수는 없습니다. 이 끔찍한 경험도 모자라, 투숙 후 발송된 설문조사는 심지어 '중국어'로 왔습니다. 저는 체크인 시 분명히 제 여권을 제시했습니다. 국적과 여권 정보가 엄연히 등록되어 있음에도 불구하고, 단지 아시아인이라는 외모만으로 중국어 설문조사를 보낸 것은 명백한 인종적 편견(Racial stereotyping)이자 차별입니다. 이번 사태로 인해 라플스뿐만 아니라 Accor 그룹이라는 브랜드 전체에 대한 신뢰가 완전히 무너졌습니다. 저는 향후 어떠한 경우에도 라플스를 포함한 전 세계 Accor 계열의 호텔을 절대 이용하지 않을 것입니다. 호텔 경영진은 객실 배정의 윤리성을 심각하게 재고하고, 직원들을 대상으로 다문화 존중 및 차별 금지 교육을 즉각 실시할 것을 강력히 촉구합니다.
