Great location. Simple but nice hotel with renovated rooms - walk-in shower. Walking distance to a supermarket with bakery. The old town is about a 15-minute walk, and the lovely river Rhein is less than 10 minutes on foot. Nice little in-house bar, unfortunately closed Wednesday and Thursday night, not supposed to be, according to the management.

Good location

Short walk from Banhof, but far enough from the noise. 15 minute walk to river, 20 to Dom. Room was as advertised. Soundproof windows. A/C worked fine during daylight, but seemed to stop in the night. Breakfast good and typical for hotel in this price range. This is the third hotel we‘ve used in Mainz. We used to stay in Novotel (recently sold). This is a step down from that, but a big step up from another hotel closer to Banhof.

Clean and convenient for the train station

We were travelling light with rucksacks on this trip so this hotel‘s location close to the train station was a big factor in our choice. It’s a 5 minute walk. Some railway stations can be in seedy areas, but Mainz is ok. It’s a 15 minute walk to the Altstadt. Our 5th floor room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Everything worked. Room had AC, but we didn’t need it as we were able to open the window. The room had a safe, a small kettle and a small supply of tea bags and coffee sachets. There is no view to speak of in any direction. We did not eat in the hotel so can’t comment on that. Check in/out was very quick and easy. The TV has no English language options.

Very good location and friendly staff. There is no on site parking however there is parking for a fee close by. Easy walk to shopping, bars and restaurants and the river precinct. Try and be there on the weekend when the market is on it was fantastic.

Hotel should be removed from Accor group

Sadly a bad experience in mercure one day after a great one in Würzburg. Poor service at check-in, was told executive room at 180 eur had an issue with the air con. Temperature on 30 August was over 30 degrees. Asked for another room, just to be told no other room was available. Wonder if this is the penalty Accor platinum members have to pay to stay in this hotel… And t didn’t end there. I was asked repeatedly to tell them at what time I would have breakfast!! I kept repeating I did not know yet how long I would be sleeping as I was still suffering from jet lag. When asking what discount they would provide for the lack of air con, the staff remained silent and smiled. No compensation seems to be the rule in this hotel, not the customer is King but the owner. Sorry guys but I am used to better and won’t come back here. Claim was sent to Accor group
