An Ideal stopover when on a long journey

We needed just a one night stay when travelling North and this fitted the bill. Located in a quiet area with a pub next door and easy to access. Rooms are a good size but the corridors leading to them are gloomy. Breakfast was cooked to order and perfectly adequate. My only moan was being charged for parking which given the quiet out of town area did not make sense. Also that parking is not free is not made clear at the time of booking

Stayed at this hotel three times now rooms clean and tidy had breakfast which is basic but really really nice good grub and cooked well no complaints at all staff are allways helpfull for a budget stay would recommend to anybody in the area and convenient just off the m62

I stayed for 5 nights in early April. On arrival, there was almost no other guests, so it felt a bit creepy. Receptionist was very helpful and I really like how they have done the rooms. Lots of space, reasonable bed quality and nicely fitted bathrooms. I only ate there once during the stay and the food was ok. The housekeeping standards are the worst I have ever come across, and I stay in hotels a lot. If you need the room serviced, you are instructed to hang the service me door hanger on the outside of the door. Duly placed in on the door on the first morning, and on returning,it was still there are the room hadn’t been serviced. As the rooms don’t have heated towels rails, I wa# left with damp towels. I managed though and on my second day I duly placed the door hanger on the outside of the door. When I returned in the afternoon, the door hanger was still there and the room again hadn’t been serviced. Asked at reception and clean towels were provided with a promise that the room would be serviced in the morning. Duly left out the door hangar and on return, I had clean towels and fresh bed linen but nothing else and the bathroom and everything else had been ignored. Approached the manager who stated that they would clean the room the following day, which they duly did. So for a five night stay I got a change of towels and the room serviced once. To put this in perspective, there was debris on the carpet in the corridors when I checked in on the Sunday afternoon, which was still there on Friday morning when I checked out. The staff were lovely but the housekeeping standards really let the place down.

Arrived and went to the room. On entering the room I noticed the wall lights didnt work, i checked and there was no bulbs in them so I left the main ceiling lights on. My friend and I were in the room for about 45 minutes and there was a loud bang and we were sat in the dark. Thinking there must of been a power cut we looked in the corridoor but the lights were on. When the lights didn't come back on in the room I went to reception, the lady came and looked at the fuseboard and tried to switch the electric back on. But nothing in the room was working. I asked for another room but was told they were fully booked. I filled out an incident form and had to leave, bonfire night out ruined!! I was told the manager would ring me about a refund but he didn't. I rang the hotel 3 times to be told the manager would be in touch. He wasn't I have emailed Accor hotel who own Ibis but they say we will inform the hotel management and they will be in touch they haven't I am now taking this Hotel to court and believe there was faulty electrics in the room as we never touched or switched anything on electrical except the ceiling lights. The consumer rights Act 2015 covers hotel rooms that are not fit to stay in, electricity in the room would be reasonable to expect I believe. All I asked for was my money back for a service I did not receive.

Second stay, hotel looked quite busy, the room itself was modern and clean.. I realised at 8pm there was no hot water at all. The shower was freezing cold, no water coming out of the tap. I tried to contact reception and there was no response, when I found the receptionist she’d locked herself out of her office and was waiting for an emergency key to get back in so she could report it and investigate. Past 10pm we had no update, it was still off in the morning.. was unable to have a wash. There was no apology, no offer of a partial refund.. next time we’ll be booking a premier
