Standard hotel not luxury

Very basic and outdated set up, hotel needs modernisation. Upkeep of room was not 5 star, not all things were replaced regularly and used cups were not replaced with new clean cutlery. Breakfast was ok, but not what was expected of Movenpick. Not an array of choices. Location was good, general cleanliness was ok. However I was disappointed with the hotel, not the luxury you expect from a 5 star hotel with such a reputation.

Great location with wonderful staff in particular Firat

This was the first time I stayed in this hotel and I had a great experience. Prior to my arrival, I had very good communication with the hotel manager Firat, who had been extremely helpful. As I am a platinum member of accorhotel, we got free room upgrade to a very nice suite with sea view. Even more impressively, when I was trying to buy a book from Turkey before I arrived, Firat even helped to look into the possible source. Although we could not find it locally, I ordered this online and shipped to the hotel before my arrival. The staff had received and made it ready when I arrived. This is what I call service. The hotel is also in a very good location next to the harbour and walking distance to the main market. The only small imperfection is the closure of the swimming pool. I will certainly stay in Izmir Movenpick if I visit the city in the future. Again, I will praise Firat again for his professionalism and made our stay very comfortable.

Great service, the food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and professional. I would have given five stars, but unfortunately the pool was under renovations It was a relaxing, enjoyable stay!

Pro's - Arrived around midnight to the hotel, checkin process was comfortable and seamless, thanks to the friendly staff.. - Prime location of the hotel close to the sea coast. - Central to most points of attractions. - Plethora of seaside food Restaurants to choose from... - Very friendly, pleasant staffs in the Restaurant who make the stay comfortable and worthwhile.. Con's Not many, but I'd like to point out subtle observations made.. - Booked a Superior room with sea view, got a room with no view. - The bathroom requires a face-lift with shower curtain, ensuite door, not much but when rated Five stars, one would expect it as standard. Overall was pleasant, relaxing experience... Hope to come again!!!

Staffs are excellent. Not much else.

Not satisfactory at all. The room is, above all, seriously dusty. There is a strong odour of cigarettes. My allergies (eyes, nose, skin) kept me awake most of the night. The room cannot be well lit. The decor of the furniture and the fixtures are dated. The shower is excellent and powerful. The toilet is small. Toiletries are quite inadequate. No slippers. The sound of the television is kept low, making it very difficult for someone with poorer hearing / older age like myself to enjoy anything if sitting in the head of the bed. We travel as a group and was offered a buffet breakfast. The staff was very helpful and responsive. But, with (at least one) insect surveying our table offerings, I limited myself to hard boiled eggs and coffee from the jug. I would definitely not recommend if one can afford elsewhere.
