I have stayed at this hotel many times when traveling for work but this is the first time i've chosen to write a review. The Sebel Civic has many great qualities that make it a great option when staying in Canberra. It is in an excellent location on city walk, making it extremely close to the shops, bars and restaurants at Canberra Centre. It is also less than a 10 minute walk to the Alinga Street tram station. As for the rooms, the beds are extremely comfortable, and linen is of very high quality. The rooms all have a fantastic little kitchenette, work desk and all the amenities you would need for a work or personal trip such as a large wardrobe, iron & ironing board, hairdryer etc. The bathroom also has good lighting, great quality toiletry products and really good water pressure which is a must if you're staying during a Canberra winter! There are a couple of downsides which will greatly improve the hotel. First, the restaurant has been out of action for at least a year now. They did provide a mini bar during this time which is useful but sometimes when you arrive late, going out to find dinner is the last thing you want to do, especially since the uber delivery situation in Canberra is woeful. Thankfullt it looked like the restaurant may be close to reopening. The one other thing that this hotel really needs to invest in is new smart televisions. The current TVs are soooooo old and only offer outdated foxtel channels and free to air. They are so old you can't even use a google chrome cast to stream other services. My most recent stay has been 5 nights and watching shows/movies on your laptop gets frustrating after a while. Other than that, I highly recommend the Sebel Civic.

Only stayed one night with a quick family trip . Cheap ,clean bedding white and inviting . Car parking if you are lucky . Just around the corner from restaurants ,shops, bars and pubs . Ideal location . Saw small breakfast room but cannot comment. Did not use .I can recommend a stay.

Stayed at the Sebel in Canberra in January for 2 nights . We were expecting more due to the fact it’s the Sebel name . No parking had to park over the road . Needs a good paint in the rooms . Hair on the floor upon entry of our room . Just felt dirty . Would’ve being nice if the restaurant was opened .

Really nice hotel. Beds were comfortable & the room was immaculate. Both people I dealt with on reception were very helpful & friendly. The only negative was that there's no on-site cafè/restaurant but the hotel is only a 5 minute walk to the heart of the city.

Located (as the name suggests) opposite the legislative assembly, close to restaurants and shops (if shops are your thing). Extremely helpful reception staff, in particular, Catherine. My room was on the first floor, quite airy, king size bed, medium firmness, room had a 2 ring halogen hot plate, microwave, kettle and coffee machine. Good size wet room, strangely, only one set of eating utensils in the draws, and although we opted for room service (200 Accor points, if you don’t) towels changed, bed made but coffee cups not washed/replaced. Bus stops outside the hotel and you can walk, or get a bus to all the sights/attractions. 10-15 minutes to all of them, Australian war memorial, old/new parliament, art gallery, Queen Elizabeth Terrace Jetty etc… Despite being offered breakfast when we booked, the hotel does not have a restaurant, they will sell/include a voucher for the cafe opposite (Capital Grind). The offer on ‘All Accor’ was ‘A la Cart,’ whilst the breakfast was adequate, A la Cart, it wasn’t, for your voucher you can have a medium coffee and an item from the breakfast menu. Juice is extra, 3A$ if you swap it for the coffee, or market price. It is good value for the price the hotel charge and better than visiting the cafe as a fare paying punter. But, not A la Cart. There are lots of restaurants nearby, but I’d recommend making your decision early and making a reservation, otherwise you could be walking around for a while trying to find one that has vacancies, as we did. As said, 1st floor room, was subject to traffic and pedestrian (shouting/noisy) noise.
