Pullman Khao Lak Resort

overall a very pleasant experience.

The name "Khao Lak" literally translated means 'Main Mountain'. This was one of the peaks used by ancient sea farers as a landmark to guide them into the safe harbour at Thaplamu I'm reviewing this hotel as a fit couple in their early 70's , but the hotel is suitable for all age groups, singles, couples & families . Do your research as Khao Lak is perhaps not as lively as Phuket !! so if you're looking for a laid back vacation them this is for you, party goers probably not . We loved the endless stretches of peaceful beautiful white sandy beaches ( hardly any clutter apart from what the sea brought in with its tides ) the ever changing surf that was the Andaman Sea was just perfect for de stressing. We spent 25 nights here. and it really became like home for home, with a new family !! Now this really is a hotel for getting away from it all !!, although a tad isolated ( shuttle buses , taxis etc to get you to the nearest towns & markets ) the hotel is both vibrant with an air tranquillity & peace , especially felt at the large open lobby area , .We were greeted warmly by the lovely -Karen - who proved to be my go to person for more or less anything & everything !!! Thank you Karen, you're a super star . We were allocated a deluxe room on the 6th floor, spectacular views of the sea overseeing the whole hotel complex ,the spectacular sun sets were a vision , all in all it was perfect ! we even managed to get Netflix in to our room, thanks to the hotel technicians. Lots to do at the hotel, gym , movie nights for the young & the young at heart, organised shuttle trips to town , markets etc. Games night, party nights at the Beach Cafe, local entertainment , Thai dancing, bands etc. Food at all stations was plentiful and various, Prai is either a la carte , or the popular buffet , different themes each night, lots of choices for all palates & the beach bar with an extensive fast food menu. Breakfast is plentiful and simply delicious, freshly baked pastries bread etc. Bacon, pancakes, cereals, lovely fresh sweet milk , Fresh fruits , egg station etc. Coffee is a bit contentious though as it's a bean & cup outlets 2 of them for the whole of the Prai . Very frustrating waiting to fill your cup !! They would ease the crowds if alongside the bean to cup there were pots of fresh hot coffee in jugs. Lunch buffet at the Prai was plentiful but not used by that many guests and I would imagine lots of waste. Would make sense to close the Plai at lunchtime, have and AI menu at the beach bar , with surcharges for the more expensive dishes , just a thought ! also the beach cafe where the selection is numerous , fairly priced, wasn't included in our AI deal , but was an option. Dinner buffet was plentiful and varied, chefs were amazing and on the whole would please most tastes. There are 3 bars , one at the pool , one in the beach cafe and one in the lobby, we were all inclusive meals & drinks etc. Im a wine drinker so was a little disappointed that wine at evening meal times wasn't part of the deal, so I settled for a cocktail instead . The Beach is heaven on earth, I used to go for long walks along the soft white sands with the aqua sea at the my feet. bliss!! often I would not meet anybody or anything else ( apart from the odd cow ) it was soul cleansing. The sea is tidal, hence waves are sometimes surf like !! the beach flag will let you know when its safe for swimming and there weren't many days when it wasn't. There are kayaks etc to hire with staff guidance. No life guards so to speak , so children will need the attention & guidance of an adult. I rarely went in the sea as the pools are perfect & children have their own pool play areas, attached to the kids club. I have left the best until last , The wonderful staff Everyone was keen to please , (Thailand the land of smiles ) & talk about service with a smile !! there weren't enough of them & sometimes they were were over whelmed with the customer demand . We noticed that each day the staff were increasing in numbers ,so service can only improve & the management who we believe are relatively new are doing a great job guiding the Pullman into 5 star shape albeit in a relaxed style. the stand out super stars :- M- Bank- Pong -Joyce -Tukta - Gift & last but not least Karen and her co manager , whose name I have mislaid ( sorry you came and said goodbye to us on departure ) All the staff at the beach bar, Apologies if I missed anybody out it isn't intentional as you are all wonderful ! My wife and I booked to stay for one month. Overall our experience was fantastic the property, the food, the room, the beach were all excellent, the staff and management were brilliant

Very poor experience at Pullman Khao lak resort. The service is third grade. The staff are extremely rude and absolutely not accommodative for anything. The restaurant closing time is 9:30 PM which is highly unreasonable for a 5 star property. Inspite of travelling with kids, there was not even a little concern about kids sleeping hungry at night. The regular drinking water in the restaurant is chargeable. The room service is extremely poor. Any small request takes extremely long to be organised. They do not like to be called again. The laundry bag which we had used to carry some wet clothes back with us is charged 100 TBH per bag. Overall regret visiting this property.

We stayed at the Pullman Khao for 3 nights and our family with 3 kids had a great time. The family room is great, very big, comfortable. We had a garden room which allowed the kids to go out and play as they wish. The resort facilities are also great, with a huge kid playroom, a water slide, a water playground... The beach is easily accessible and beautiful, not crowded. Overall we came to enjoy a relaxing and fun family stay and the Pullman answered to our expectations. We recommend highly this place.
