The restaurant food was very poor and basic

It is always encouraging to hear that our guests are able to enjoy the peaceful surroundings and unique experience our lodge offers. However, we sincerely regret to learn that the restaurant experience did not meet your expectations, particularly regarding the quality and variety of the food, including breakfast. If you’re looking for a relaxing, family-friendly getaway in Akagera National Park, I can’t recommend Mantis Akagera Game Lodge enough. I visited with my husband, our child, and another family, and it turned out to be such a memorable experience for all of us. The lodge strikes a really nice balance between comfort and that peaceful “escape into nature” feeling. The food was genuinely excellent — there was a great variety at each meal, so everyone (including the kids) always found something they enjoyed. The rooms were also super comfortable, clean, and well set up for a relaxing stay after a day out in the park. The pool happened to be under renovation during our visit, but what really stood out was how well the team handled it. We were informed in advance, which we appreciated, and they went above and beyond by offering us more than a 30% discount on our original booking to compensate for the inconvenience. That level of transparency and customer care made a big difference. They also added some really thoughtful personal touches — we had a belated birthday celebration for my daughter organized by the hotel, completely on the house, along with a lovely gift. It made her (and us!) feel very special. Evenings were cozy and memorable, especially with the bonfire at night — such a nice way to wind down, chat, and enjoy the atmosphere with family and friends. Overall, it was a warm, welcoming, and well-managed experience. I would absolutely go back again.
