Mantis Akagera Game Lodge 4 stars

A great place to stay in the Akagera National Park located on the south side. The staff was very helpful, rooms were very nice, the view over the lake was beautiful. The dinner at night was hosted outside on the large beautiful patio and the lighting and atmosphere very very nice and relaxing. The food was exceptional.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The room was very comfortable & the views were lovely. The food & the decor was amazing. Especially enjoyed our lunch out on the deck with the incredible view of the lake. All of the safari's were amazing! Would love to come back here again and highly recommend it as a location for touring the National Park. The staff were friendly & professional.

We stayed here as part of a Nat Geo tour. We were very happy with all aspects of the property. Our room was very nice and the food was very good. The property is very convenient to seeing some wildlife very near the lodge.

This is a very beautiful and well kept lodge, beautiful surroundings, in the reserve so an excellent location. We stayed for one night and were very pleased with the decor, cleanliness, well appointed rooms with temperature control and TV that really worked. the large bathroom was large, well stocked and the linen clean. The pool area was beautiful but as weather was cold, we did not attempt to go in, just sat besides the fire that was very welcoming. The wifi signal was very weak and did not work in my room despite calling the main desk and reporting it. All was excellent until the dinner time. Alas, the food is not worth the 40 USD per person buffet. There is no a la carte option, the dishes served were sub-optimal, chicken dry, goat meat rubbery and not many options other than a mushroom curry, potatoes and stir fry vegetables. for vegetarians. The dessert table was nearly empty, by the time we reached it and we had to scrape the custard from the base, just to get dessert. Breakfast was included and had good options though the chicken was still dry. The omelette station was good. Overall, accommodation 5 star, food 1 star hence 3 stars.

A very convenient place to stay for safari with the hotel situated within the park. The staff is friendly. The rooms are decent and basic. The lunch service is slowww and dinner food is disappointing, expensive and below par. The boxed lunch choices for safari are dismal.
