Mercure Newbury West Grange Hotel 4 Sterne

Went here for an anniversary party, staff were lovely and polite food was good. One complaint though one girl had her hair down and had extremely long fake nails on handing out food which I found unprofessional and unpleasant. Room was okay just standard housekeeper in the morning was lovely and helpful!

After arriving after a delayed flt and long day, check in easy, room clean and tidy nice bathroom and shower. Bar are clean and tidy and a staff member named Ashe very helpful. Bed comfortable. Breakfast was great good selection and all items on hot buffet very well cooked making our breakfast delicious, again Ashe working breakfast and nothing to much trouble, stayed two nights will definitely book here again, and to see hard working unflappable staff (Ashe) who make your stay worthwhile.

Stayed here for business due to convenient location and tbh it was average. The hotel itself looks nice enough, parking is good and they even have an electric charging point which is a positive. I didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the dinner or breakfast. The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable, the shower was good, the tv worked and the fridge worked so not bad on that front BUT it was a warm July day/night and there was no A/C, I had both windows open and they had left a fan (turned off) so when I walked into the room it was, what can only be described as a Furness, once I turned the fan on, it only served to blow the warm air around the room meaning I barely slept because I had to keep the fan on all night and it was still ridiculously hot and then at 6am another guest decided it was appropriate to have a full volume telephone conversation in the terrace outside my open window successfully waking me from my 3 hours sleep. All in all, I am extremely glad I was only staying for 1 night otherwise I would have complained. I suggest to the hotel that as they clearly have rooms with ac that they start offering different rates in the summer and allow your guests to choose whether they want to take a chance on sleeping in an oven for a lower price or sleeping comfortably for a higher price. It’s unlikely that I will be back to this hotel however nice the rest of it was because in my opinion how you sleep is the most important factor and I didn’t sleep well at all. Spend some money and have AC fitted on the remainder of your rooms and only then May I consider returning.

We stayed as a group of 8 of us on Sunday evening. We had booked dinner in the restaurant quite a long way in advance. We were told that as there were few guests, the restaurant wouldn't open but meals would be served in the bar. However, there was nowhere for 8 of us to sit together. The food was nice and reasonable Only the very helpful lady in reception, Sarah, saved the day and sorted us out. No wifi that night. they claimed it was due to a thunderstorm, but reception had wifi. Not good enough for a hotel this size. Again the receptionist tried to help but was told it was the weather Don't accept room 231. it has a HUGE vent outside from the kitchens. Good breakfast
