The cabin with balcony that we stayed in (Number 11) sits on the carpark. It is not quite the outlook you imagine when reading the room description. The cabins are tired and the carpet really needs replacing (throughout the lodge as well). Regardless of how old the rooms are, they should be kept really clean for a property that costs $500+ a night in the off season. I took photos of the ceiling fan in the bedroom and exhaust fan in the bathroom and I can’t imagine the last time they were actually cleaned - there was that much dust on them. You cannot beat the location and I think Accor is resting on that fact. It has slipped far from the 5 star property it used to be but the position is magic, so the bookings will continue to get made whether the property is maintained properly or not. I don’t think a single game (other than the main chess board) had all its working pieces. On a property with no TVs or Wifi in the rooms and limited mobile reception, there could be a little more effort put into the board games etc. The Tavern food was average - steaks really over cooked both nights. Buffet breakfast in the restaurant was ok.
