This hotel is showing its age- the carpet paint in hallways etc are all in need of some love

As a valued Gold member, we truly appreciate your loyalty, and I’m glad our team were ultimately able to provide an upgrade for your stay. Typically, Gold-level upgrades are to the next room category, which in this case would have been a 1 Bedroom Ocean View Apartment. However, after some careful room shuffling, the team were able to secure a 2 Bedroom Ocean View Apartment for the full duration of your visit so you could enjoy the additional space and views. Regarding servicing, our apartments are fully self-contained and therefore do not receive daily housekeeping. That said, we are always happy to provide additional amenities or assist with rubbish removal upon request. We also appreciate your comments about the property’s age. The building is undergoing ongoing maintenance and improvements, and your feedback helps us prioritise areas that need attention. Thank you again for sharing your experience. The hotel listing on booking.com and other sites lists this accommodation as having a restaurant and cafe which it does not! There is an Italian restaurant and cafe outside/next to it but it is not part of the hotel. Both these places were not of a high standard. There is also no bar as listed in another site. When we asked about this at the reception desk they were clearly well versed seeming to have been asked this many times. The staff were not as all welcoming and just pointed to a leaflet on the desk listing some other places nearby but not really interested at all. The room was very small and noisy sharing the entrance with another room. The balcony was so basic and other guests were smoking so we could not use it. I suggest installing smoke detectors above the balcony door. There was a tea towel but not cloth or dishwashing liquid so what was the point of supplying a tea towel. We were really disappointed since we’ve stayed at other Mantra hotels previously but this one was awful! We would seriously have to consider another stay at a Mantra hotels previously since given the price we would expect more! We could’ve stayed at a motel for cheaper and got the same standard and facilities.

We only advertise that there is a restaurant onsite, and there are indeed two independently operated venues located within the same building as the hotel. While they are not managed by Mantra, they are the restaurants available onsite for guest convenience. Regarding your room, the accommodation type you stayed in does receive daily servicing, and we do have additional amenities such as dishwashing liquid, cloths, tea, coffee, and more available at reception at any time. We’re sorry this was not clearly communicated to you. For the shared entry and balcony smoke issue, we understand how this impacted your stay. Smoking is not permitted on balconies, and we do take action when notified. Your suggestion regarding smoke detectors has been noted. We’re also disappointed to hear that your interaction at reception did not feel welcoming—this is certainly not the standard we strive for, and we will be addressing this with the team. Having stayed at this resort a few times, we love this place. Staff are friendly, helpful and as a Gold member we were upgraded to a ocean view apartment. The apartment was spacious, clean, with new furniture and electrical appliances.

I think most reviews are for apartments and not room only like we had, however you pay a lot more for that and still get no restaurant or bar as listed.
