Our family had an excellent stay at Breakfree Diamond Beach. Initially we had some reservations after reading recent reviews but our 3 bedroom apartment was renovated, modern, spacious and well equipped. The grounds and pools were very attractive and great for children. The reception staff were helpful and the location was a short walk to the beach and Pacific Fair. This is an older resort but we booked directly with the resort as apartments in their letting pool have been renovated and ours was lovely with expensive appliances. A very nice stay and recommended for families.

Dirty and disgusting

Cockroaches everywhere, both dead and alive. There were soap pieces in the shower and hair from former tenants. There were also stains on the sofa and generally dirty. They also charged us a fee for poor cleaning. They said they had picture proof, but when we requested to see the pictures, they never answered.

Upon arrival we noticed that the apartment was quite dirty. There was laying used soap pieces in the showers, covered in hair from previous people. In addition to this, there was laying dead cockroaches in several rooms. After our stay we were charged a big amount because they said the trash wasn’t taken out upon departure and that there was a stain at the floor. That was not correct, as we had taken all our trash and the stain were there when we got there. They said that they had picture proof they could send us, but are not answering us when we asked to see them. It’s been two weeks now, and we haven’t heard anything yet. This is not a sustainable way do run a business. I would think twice before booking with them.

We loved our stay at Breakfree Diamond Beach. The room and pools were beautiful. We were poolside so just went through the balcony gate to the pool area. There are three pools, cold, warm, and a couple of warmer spas so you can find the perfect temperature. They do a wonderful job keeping the gardens and pools clean. We had a fabulous time swimming every day. Proximity to the beach was great. The staff at reception were super helpful and friendly. The midstay room service changed the towels and sheets but didn’t seem to clean anything so the floor and bathroom felt a bit dirty by the end of our stay. Overall we had a lovely stay and would go back.

Family Xmas/New Year’s break

Was surprised when I arrived early at the resort that basically we were told room not ready come back at 2 by the way only 1 car space so try find an unlimited park out on street as only 1 car space even though we’d booked a 3 bedroom apartment. With no visitor or spare spaces. Housekeeping needs to do a better job given we reported mould on ceiling of main bedroom and on the bottom of blinds in lounge. The kitchen wasn’t set up for the people in room with insufficient plates cups saucepans! When I asked reception all they could say was with all the families things move between rooms. As there was no bar or restaurant welcome drinks were limited to a can of soft drink… didn’t feel like a gold member! But having said all of the above now I’ve stayed there I know what to expect and I’d do things differently like make sure I bought supplies like salt pepper etc with me as well as booked differently so we grandparents had our own space away from children and grandchildren. The resort was ample for kids and gran kids and grounds well maintained and location wise just far enough out of Gold Coast and Coolangatta to be out of rat race. Well located to PAC Fair and sufficient restaurants cafes given no onsite restaurant.
