$300 per night for a “water view” room is not unreasonable. Technically I could see the water. Hardly a pleasant view. Shower was but a trickle. 45 seconds for the hot water to come in. 2 minutes to rinse shampoo, and I’m nearly bald! Room was clean but the corridors smell of mould and mildew. Aircon and fans were operable but loud and rattled.

Disappointing and smelly

Disappointing. The foyer, roo, and toilet all had different but equally nasty smells. There is no snack bar for late-night arrivals. The breakfast was pathetic for the $30 price tag. It included the worst coffee I have had since I arrived in Australia 3 weeks ago.

I am a Platinum member of the Accor group, and while I don't expect the red carpet to be rolled out, there are a couple of things that I can't ignore. I paid $475 per night for a 5-night stay, so I had higher expectations. Upon check-in, I was given an accessibility room that wasn't requested. When I inquired about this with the reception, the clerk couldn't confirm if it was an accessibility room but said it was standard. I had some laundry from my trip and the room had a washing machine and dryer. However, the rubber seal of the washing machine was covered in black mold spots, so I couldn't use it. The room clearly was an accessibility room as the sink was lower than hip height. The next day, it was confirmed that I was indeed in an accessibility room, so I questioned why I was assigned this room as a tier member of the Accor Group. I didn't receive a satisfactory answer, but I was given a new room in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the washing machine situation was the same. Since the hotel didn't offer laundry services, I had to resort to offsite dry cleaning. Additionally, the hot water situation was inconvenient, with the small water boiler in the room only providing 7-8 minutes of hot water for a shower. Considering the price paid and the amenities offered, I won't be returning to this hotel on my next trip and will choose a neighboring hotel chain instead.

I have stayed at the Mantra Pandanus many times over the last few years. The food and beverage offer has always been quite ordinary. I did note recently however that there had been an improvement and subsequent upturn in patronage. However, last night I was having dinner downstairs at the properties restaurant and was astounded to see the menu pricing had been increased well beyond anything reasonable. Beers were the highlight, with a stubby of 150 lashes now costing $14!! Wow, way to destroy any built up loyalty. Even the food and beverage attendents were embarrassed, blaming the rises on new management!

Just received your email (via Hotels.com) regarding the pool closure & renovations (including noise warning). With all due respect, we would have never made this booking if we were provided this information upfront and considering the pool is a listed featured for the stay and in ALL of your imagery I would like to request a full refund. How could you do this to people? I'm done with the Mantra brand after this shady interaction.
