This was our first visit to the Mantra but it will not be our last! The service team went out of their way to be helpful to us - my partner is in a wheelchair and they were wonderfully kind. We booked a Studio City View Apartment and had an amazing view from our balcony of the light show on the Star at Queen's Wharf. The hotel is also close to QPAC (where we were attending a performance) and Southbank restaurants. Overall wonderful

Poor experience - Communication, and Condition of Room

I had a few issues with this hotel. Before arrival, I phoned to confirm that there were 2 rooms for my business colleague and I. Being told there was only one room (and the stay being for tomorrow night for a busy conference!) I panicked. The person on the phone didn't suggest checking under my colleague's name, and didn't have availability. Accordingly, we booked an alternate accommodation for my business partner so he had a roof over his head. Mantra then charged a nights accommodation as "he was a no show". When I enquired, they couldn't provide the phone numbers they apparently called all afternoon. Not a great system when you can't tell the number called, and disappointing that the worker didn't have the thought process (unstressed, opposite to me) to check under my colleagues name. I had been a contact on the other booking, also weird I didn't get a call. When I was checked into the hotel, I was "upgraded". I would have hated to see the actual room booked if this was an upgrade. Firstly, it was a conjoined room (not ideal for a single female traveler) and when I tried to call downstairs to request a change in room - the telephone didn't work. Having heaved my heavy bags to my room, by myself, I didn't feel like going back down to the busy reception desk and I also had to race off to the conference venue. As a single female traveler, I'm not overly comfortable being in a room where the telephone doesn't work - what if someone is bashing at my door in the middle of the night / attempting to get in?? And yes, I checked each time that it was 'plugged in'. The toilet buttons had green around them (mould?), and the bath tub had patches of rust. The couch was also stained, and as such not an appealing place to sit! The door lock/unlock for the sliding door was also sharp. Beware, the train noise is very loud and also woke me each morning (stayed 4 nights). Most disappointing though is the service. At no point walking in/out of the hotel each day did the reception staff look up and greet/acknowledge the guests. I've stayed at a few disappointing Accor Group hotels now, and I'm about done! Luckily 3 months before the next stay is enough time to move hotels. (The phone in my hotel room at Novotel on Collins St also didn't work). In better news, my colleague who stayed at Ivy & Eve apartments was happy with his stay - seemed he got the better end of the deal.

Too big for solos to handle

My 1st time staying in mantra brand and idk what to expect but I know everything in QLD is bigger, and boy, the most basic category I booked is 55sqm apartment! I came from Hong Kong to Brisbane for first time, and I chose mantra south bank for my 4nts coz it is 5mins walk from the South Brisbane train station where I take a direct airtrain from Brisbane Airport, 7mins walk from Museum bus interchange or busway station, and 5mins walk from Citycat ferries which is too convenient for me when I went to concert at Riverstage one night (which is at the other side of the river) My flight arrived in the morning so I did know my room is not gonna be ready till afternoon. Thank you Grey, who is kind enough for allowing me to store luggage and give me a brief heads up on the weather and what's on nearby, especially Brisbane's ever changing weather. This hotel has their lower floors as hotels while higher floors as residences so you can expect a full furnished setup, with open kitchen, washing machine, bathtub, living room and balconies. However, the hotel setup is pretty basic, or should I say, empty. And there is no drapes or full divider for bathtub so 90% chance you will have water splashed out when showering. Bottled water is not provided complimentary but upon request, even for me as Accor membership number. However, I am given sparkling instead of still when I asked for 2 bottles. Interestingly, they would assume I want it sparkling when I ask for simply water. But it is a very good stay, also thanks to Jennifer the manager for finding the adapter I am much in need for Oceania continent, and Zac for allowing me to keep it as I continue my journey to Auckland (of course, paid, and A$20 is good deal for my usage in the next 7 days too) If you are family or couple coming for long trip or just arriving for short term stay before settling in, this is a great choice to stay, and it is super convenient around.

Great Location in the middle of Southbank. Huge rooms with lots of space, we stayed in a city view room with a balcony. Great shower pressure and nice shampoo, etc. too. Staff all friendly and helpful. Would stay here again and enjoyed the hot tub near pool too.
