Took me 40 minutes to check in as the reception desk was closed. It was 1815 in the evening. Your out of hours telephone number assured me that the desk was manned - it was not - there was a sign up saying 'we are closed please call this number'. Disconnected. Called back - they asked me to go outside and make sure I was at no. 70 Mary St - there is no number on your building... The BIG SIGN over reception saying MANTRA on MARY really was the give away - was extremely confident I was in the right spot - your night team were not convinced. They were not able to check me in. After a further 15 minutes a young chap turned up and took a further 15 minutes to check me in as he was not able to process my credit card. Not a word of an apology or explanation. In that time I observed at least 3 highly effected drug users enter the building, enter the lifts and not return - interesting choice of accommodation for ice addicts. My room - kinda ok, but not really what you expect. The television was on a 10 degree angle to the right as the stand was broken - not a big problem if you tilt your head to the same angle. No tv in the bedroom. The bed was particularly uncomfortable with a big imprint where the mattress has sagged over many years. It felt like a memory foam topper was put on top to disguise the sag! The bathroom drains stink - I think that is why the extractor fan was left on prior to arrival. Turn it off overnight and the stench in the morning is horrible. Carpet and furniture - not great - few stains that lead you to wonder who has been there before. Overnight building work outside doesnt help - do however appreciate this is out of your control. Now if I was paying $149 a night, you might say - well what do you expect? But at almost $300 a night - I think it is fair to say the expectations are likely to be higher. Overall I would not recommend the Mantra on Mary to any of my colleagues as it really was a comedy of errors.

Tired and smelly

I was disappointed with my stay at Mantra on Mary. The room was very tired, the couch and cushions not really clean, bathroom also not as clean as it could be. The hallway was smelly. Very tired and old looking rooms, as well as a random windowless and furniture-less room. I would have left and gone somewhere else if I could have got a refund. Booked Mantra through Qantas and the Accor program, figured it would be of a high-ish standard. It's not.

Good location but won't stay there again

Was supposely upgraded to 2 bedroom family apartment which had noticeable stains on carpet in lounge room. Shower/bath is a potential slip hazzard,not suitable for children or people that are not tall as it is very high, making getting in and out very difficult. 2nd bedroom very small and 1 wine glass and 1 champane glass. Biggest issue though was that our access cards were cancelled by the night reception officer when he couldn't see on the computer that we had checked in and couldn't contact us initially while we were out which meant that we had to return earlier than intended to fix this so we would not have been locked out after reception closed at 11pm. I don't know how he thought that we hadn't checked in when he knew we had the access cards which could only have been obtained by checking in, he should have contacted his supervisor rather cancelling our access.

few Ammenities were not there. lights were not working. not very clean

some ammenities were missing, few lightings were not working. As soon as you enter the apartment floor, some weird smell was there. Apartment was not very clean. disappointing experience. many things in apartment were not working

Got bumped at 9pm - no notice

Booking confirmed. Wanted to stay there due to physical disability so needed to be very close to work. Dropped luggage at 9am. Worked all day, arrived back after 9pm to be told I 'my supervisor' had moved me to another hotel. No I did not get a call. I understand being bumped. But not without notice and certainly not without discussion and not in my current physical state. Asked to be advised why I was selected and said I expected an apology. Still nothing from 'my supervisor'.
