More than comfortable at the Breekfree on Hindley Street

We enjoyed our stay at Breakfree hotel Adelaide- for several reasons: it’s only a few minutes walk to Royal Adelaide Hospital; service was great; rooms spacious, clean and very comfortable and the bed was huge and really great to sleep on. Love staying in these older hotels as the rooms are spacious and we had a little balcony overlooking Hindley Street. Highly recommend :)

We stayed at the Breakfree Adelaide for 5 nights sharing a two bed apartment with another couple. First thing you need to know is it is smack bang in the middle of the university quarter, so is noisy at night time and most of the eatery’s and bars in close proximity are geared toward the students, so pretty average. We did enjoy a lovey stop at Peter Rabbit Cafe for brunch. Our room was on the end of the building, opposite a car park, with loud people and rubbish trucks coming and going at all hours and load thumping music till 2 am. Needless to say not great sleeps. Room was clean and tidy, average condition. Bathroom was very small for 4 people and we were only allowed one roll of toilet paper at a time which we had to collect from reception, along with any extra clean towels we required . I mean to say really !!!! Reception staff were friendly and helpful but deff played by the rules.

Give it a swerve...!

Awful place. Reminded me of commission flats with the outdoor concrete corridors. A few undesirables hanging around made me feel uncomfortable. I was in a 2 bed "apartment". Lounge furnishings were fine as was the bed. But the whole place looked shabby and tired and was just grubby. The paint on the walls has just been put on over unfilled/badly filled holes. Cheap carpet that made the place smell musty. Tap in the shower falling off the wall, air conditioner in the lounge noisy and kettle was grubby. I had to wash the cutlery to use it - all for $195! Moved to the Wyndham which whilst not apartments was cheaper and more lux. So I literally broke free from the Break Free!

Solo stay late July Nice upgrade as Accor Gold from Studio to 2BR Apartment Easy undercover secure parking at good rate. Nice staff throughout stay. washing machine, dryer, full kitchen with freestanding oven/cooktop. Comfy bed and at back so minimal street noise. Nice shower, spacious living room, high speed wifi. Walk everywhere through Adelaide city, Coles and Woolies nearby. Can't wait to stay again!!!! A nice takeaway across the road aka lamb or chicken or pork yiros, but be prepared to wait as constantly packed for reasonably priced yiros!

Just the slight stale musty smell on entering is a turn off

The hotel is older but it appeared our room had been updated as carpets did not have worn tracks, furnishings looked newer. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was small but served its purpose. The shower cubicle was where it showed its age but water hot and ample. We had asked for a quiet room, but that still unfortunately will never stop loud traffic, air craft noise at 6 am when curfew is over. Our one annoyance is unfortunately again inconsiderate occupants of other rooms who refuse to let a door close quietly but let it slam and echo up the courtyard; let's have a loud conversation as we come home so the rest of the residents can hear us. But thankfully by about 10 pm that stopped so a good night's sleep was had. Once we opened windows and let fresh air flow through the apartment units, this helped that stale smell. Staff were excellent. Location excellent. Surrounded by the university, hospital with a Botanic garden to the east and a large green space to the west for morning walks.
