Disappointing

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was disappointing. The air conditioning was extremely noisy, and there was no way to control it other than a simple fan dial with no ability to set the temperature. The bar fridge was also loud, adding to the overall noise level. There was a dangerous step leading into the bathroom with no warning signage making it a trip hazard. The room itself was very dark, with a window that had been painted over because it faced what appeared to be an alley- there was no natural light at all. Light from the hallway also shone under the door, making the space feel even less restful. Overall, the combination of noise, trip hazards, and lack of light made the experience disappointing. I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

Don't stay here. Room was musty old had a smell of dampness. Bathroom had mold on baths edge, and the non-slip bathmat was disgusting and dirty. Bed was hard with broken springs. Air Conditioning was not working. Spoke to front desk and was told "the place is 100 years old so here is a fan if you want". Room was stuffy old and very outdated, and rooms are in a desperate need of an upgrade. Only one lift working the whole time we were there. In general, the whole hotel is in desperate need of a full refurbishment. The room rates are very overpriced for what you get compared to other hotels.

A one night stopover was the most you would want here. Convenient location and cheap price are its only real drawcards. And maybe friendly staff, who are forced to make the most of this old hotel. It is a very tired member of the Mercure brand, in desperate need of a refurb. Cleaning of room and consumables was not good. We will not be returning.

Ended up costing a lot!

The beds were very comfortable, which made for a restful stay. However, only one elevator was working throughout my visit, which caused some delays getting to and from the room. I did leave behind a single pearl necklace something I distinctly remember taking off in my room before checkout. When I called to ask about it, I was informed it hadn't been found. While I can't be sure what happened, it's disappointing that it wasn't recovered, especially as it held personal value.

Very disappointed with this hotel. Not worth the price I paid. Staff were good but the hotel is very dated. Room was dark and dingy with stains on the carpet. Huge step into the bathroom which is hard to navigate for someone with a disability. Also a huge leak from the toilet which made the bathroom floor like a skating rink. Would not recommend
