Review of the herring bar service

Примечание: Tripadvisor 1.0/5

The hotel is not bad, the fresh rooms are all clean. But the service itself is disgusting, I would put minus 100, they took the all-inclusive package here, they treat it disgustingly and are reluctant to carry the menu and even more so to bring the order. An example was at the herring bar, they only serve those who pay in cash for tips, before us, who have everything included, they were either busy or stupidly did not see us when they waved, you can say near them, or you run after the waiter or place an order at the bar, although this bar has the concept that you should be approached and take an order. For example, when we were sitting there, the waiter's face was displeased when he was interrupted from a very important task while serving a large group of people with cash, as if we were the garbage and they were bothering him. They accepted our order, but then didn't fulfill it. We spent 40 minutes there, and then left with a bad mood. P.S. I don't recommend this hotel, as the staff has a very unpleasant attitude towards those who have all-inclusive plans. They are only interested in those who have a day to spend on tips

Decent infrastructure let down by poor management

Part of the reason people choose a hotel is the room. And the room we had was fine. Fit for purpose. Not amazing. It is cheaply fitted out and already starting to deteriorate, taps a bit wobbly, fake wooden floor coming unglued in places. But comfortable enough for a few days. The two bedroom apartment had three air con zones, which was nice, although the one in the main bedroom would not allow a temp below 22, while the others would. Still a bit warm at night time. There is a kitchen, with not a single piece of kitchen equipment save for tea and coffee making stuff. Not even a drinking glass. Part of the reason people choose a hotel is location. The area is entirely manufactured and soulless. A very large amount of construction has occurred, at least a few years ago, and most of it remains empty and is becoming unkempt. There is a strip of shops and restaurants and massage places across the road. The mini-mart has basic provisions. The restaurants are overpriced and terrible, almost as if they’re designed to encourage you to go back to your overpriced hotel restaurant. There’s a few free-standing banh mi and burger stands that are actually decent and nicely priced, if takeaway suits. (A bit further north along the beach we eventually found a Turkish restaurant which was only moderately overpriced, and at least had decent food and excellent service). The beach is pleasant. Nice sand, gradual decline into swimmable water, small waves. There’s lot of debris in the water, a mix of vegetation and rubbish, but the hotel makes a very good effort at cleaning the beach and water after every high tide, taking loads of it away. And then part of the reason people choose a hotel are the hotel amenities and experience. The pools and restaurants and staff. This is where the hotel dreadfully fails. The pool and beach enjoyment is very severely degraded by the lounge chair situation, as others have described. Holidays for some people mean sleeping in, and relaxing by the pool. Here you can’t have both on the same day. All beach and pool lounge chairs are claimed by 7am, and even though there are signs saying you cannot reserve chairs when you aren’t present, this isn’t enforced whatsoever….see photos. So our relaxing days were spent getting up at 6am to claim our spot, at least one or two of us sitting in our chairs (because we follow the rules, perhaps foolishly) while rotating through breakfast separately rather than as a family. While all around us are chairs claimed by towels and belongings, but that remain otherwise empty until late in the morning. The afternoons are similar as people gradually leave, but don’t tidy up their own towels. They sit endlessly, abandoned, and if you want to sit by the pool in the latter part of the day you have to gamble on whether you are removing a long abandoned towel, a or stealing a chair from someone who will return and abuse you. We found it somewhat concerning that there are no restrooms near the pool area, apart from one way back near the main hotel lobby (200m from the far end of the pool) which was hidden down some stairs and I never saw anybody else visit. Where is all the urine going? I dread to think. Service in the restaurant and bar are beyond bad. Numerous times I was treated with outright rudeness by staff. Admonished for standing at a particular place at the bar, rather than one metre to the left, although how I was supposed to know this remains beyond me. A waitress literally elbowed her way in front of me as I was standing in line. Most of the staff at the restaurant speak no English at all, and stare at you blankly if you request something….whilst the hotel serves a very multi-national clientele, almost all rely on English to communicate, and the majority of frontline staff should surely be able to do the basics of their primary role in English. We had drinks at the bar twice. The first time we waited almost an hour for our drinks before complaining, and it became clear they had lost our order. The second time we had learnt, and so only waited twenty minutes before we spoke up, and they said (via Google Translate) they had lost our order again. The Clubhouse breakfast restaurant (for Platinum Accor members) also lost our breakfast order. We tried the buffet dinner once. It was 790,000VND, which is about twenty times the price of a pretty decent banh mi across the road, and three times the price of a Michelin starred restaurant in Hanoi. And the food was woeful. Beef stew entirely devoid of beef, just vegetables swimming in a gelatinous sauce. Seafood fried rice devoid of seafood. Sushi that was geometric rectangular blocks of unseasoned rice cut with a knife, with morsels of topping. Hot food that looked edible and that I tried was literally cold. Wait staff were present but never once gave any service. No drinks order taken. Plates barely cleared, and when they were they are taken to a nearby staff station which becomes piled high with detritus, rather than moved into a clean up area. As Accor platinum members we were invited once to afternoon drinks and canapés. Food here was a small buffet table, with a strange mix of foods (cold French fries, a cheese selection but no crackers, a vinaigrette but no salad), but some nice wood fired pizza. There was a small drinks menu, drinks took 20 minutes to come even when we were the only guests. The wait staff never once approached us to see if we needed anything, and never once cleared our table in 90 minutes (see photo). Even waving the menu in the air for minutes at a time does not attract their attention, we had to stand up and go out to the bar ourself, despite numerous staff standing around and chatting. All venues have a weird system of payment that I have never encountered anywhere else in the world. Rather than be happy that the hotel has a copy of your passport with which to prove your identity, and a copy of your credit card, you are required to leave a deposit when you check in. You then get asked with suspicion each time you ask to charge something whether you have a deposit. You are never believed, instead the staff disappear somewhere to check the system for a few minutes, forcing you to wait. Both check in and check out seems unnecessarily complicated. Check in took 20 minutes, for reasons I can’t fathom. They required my name, and my Accor confirmation number, and to see my Accor membership card, before they agreed I had a reservation. Each afternoon the lobby seems full of frustrated guests attempting to check in. Check out was similarly slow, and the staff member insisted on returning my deposit to my credit card and charging me afresh for all the expenses. They never asked how our stay was. Housekeeping was barely functional. The room was only once cleaned by late afternoon, we had to ask at reception every other time. This was despite having the ‘please clean our room’ sign hanging on the doorknob. Most days all they did was empty the bins and replace the towels that we had left hanging in the place instructed for when we DON’T want the towels replaced. One day they took those towels and didn’t leave us any at all. The floors are tiled/laminate and naturally accumulate sand from the beach, but were usually not swept/vacuumed. Coffee cups are clearly given a cursory rinse rather than actually washed, and still had coffee stains on them after being set up as cleaned. Overall, apart from a reasonable room, the whole place was a huge let down. The name of the property indicates it is managed by Accor, and Accor should really consider whether it wants that relationship so clearly stated, as it is in the management of the hotel that it fails.

We checked into this hotel on new years eve. The hotel was amazing, we enjoyed a 3 bedroom apartment with a private pool. Unfortunately when we arrived my son was sick and required medical attention. We contacted guest services and spoke with Huyen who was totally amazing, she helped us with the impossible task of finding a doctor on new years days. She arranged everything. She attended our room with the doctor and was able to translate for us. Huyen we can never thank you enough for all your help and service you provide to us, during this incredible stressful time as a parent with a sick child in a foreign country. Your service has been 5 star.
