We have been staying in this Hotel for the past 33 Years. Since it was the Luxor Regente then the Golden Tulip and now the Grand Mercure. There must be a reason for returning to this Beautiful Hotel. The newly renovated Sea Front Rooms are a dream to stay in and the upgraded pool area is a bonus. We spend a total of 10 nights at this beautiful hotel. Excellent Breakfast with a wide selection of hot, cold and sweet that we are sure would please everyone's taste buds. The friendly staff is also a contributing factor. The location is one of the best in our opinion. We always felt welcome and would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Rio de Janeiro, Copacabana Beach. We would like to thank the Management team and their staff: The General Manager – Rodrigo de Landa Reservations Manager – Juliana Coelho Guest Relations Manager – Lucas Noronha Housekeeping Manager – Bruna Pires Reception Manager – Rene Arnor and Erica Olivia at reservations. And we would also like to give a special thank to Lucas Noronha for your personal attention and making our stay as comfortable and pleasant as you can. You truly made us feel right back at home. Fabulous hotel - GREAT location - perfect place if wanting to be on Copacabana

Got assigned this hotel for a work visit - 2 week stay. Check-in took quite a while and it was already late, and did notice on a few occasions there were fairly long queues. Was happy when I got sorted though. Room was very clean, huge bed and serviceable bathroom. Could even log into my Netflix on the TV which is handy. Laundry service offered was next day or the one thereafter - quite expensive, but there are plenty of other locals options if required. Amazing selection available for breakfast and I recall it opened at 0630hrs. Even chocolate cake and such like. I ate a few times in the hotel, but with such an array of restaurants and bars available nearby I felt it was a bit of a travesty sitting in the hotel so ventured out most nights. The gym was BRILL for a hotel gym, no complaints there whatsoever. The rooftop pool/bar is small, but WHAT A VIEW (see photo). Lovely place to sit and grab a beer or TEN! Staff were very helpful and front desk spoke English. The scooters to get around are available right across the road, this was what I found best to get over to Ipanema if required. Lagoa around 17 minute walk and it's lovely over there. Recommended for business or leisure. Mini bar is the room was well serviced.

We had a King Bed Room with a Hammock on the 4th floor. The room had a great view of the entire Copacabanna Beach, Sugarloaf Mountain and the Fort. It was just directly out the lobby and across Avenida Atlantica (as short as it can possibly be) to get to the beach. We enjoyed the rooftop pool for sunset one evening, which was cooler than we thought because their rooftop restaurant/bar is connected by spiral staircase on the level below, and they had a live DJ that night! The breakfast was spectacular everyday, that alone made it a great decision to have stayed here! The staff was very helpful and kind at every moment. They allowed us the opportunity to use the included beach chairs, umbrellas and towels before and after our check in and out being that it was the same day. They also took in our bags the same way, before and after check in and check out which allowed us some more time to discover! They also had adapters available for our Chargers which was complimentary as long as we returned then to the front desk. They did have a weird IT issue at check in where they couldn't program the cards, so they escorted the effected guests personally to their rooms until the problem was solved later that night, and they made sure to pre-program the keys for the guests that had been effected, so when we asked about going back to our room again they just handed us the key. The location was excellent, steps away from Copacabana, we also walked to Ipanema (we walked the full length of both beaches on different days, so really great if you are in between which beach to stay at. Plenty of great restaurants and bars that we enjoyed in walking distance, the markets along the beach and spectacular futvoli right outside. If we had been there 2 more nights we would have enjoyed the show at the Roxy which is right down the street as well. We also took a tour and the tour company knew this place and you could tell as we were waiting for our tour to show up others were waiting for ours and the hotel staff was very helpful with everyone making sure they got on the right tour vans that came up. Absolutely flawless experience. I hope people read this review so they know for sure they can be comfortable in making a great decision. This was my first time in Brazil and the first time my Brazilian wife had been to Rio, and it was definitely one of the best trips we ever had! Thanks in large part to this hotel and their wonderful wonderful staff!

Nice accommodations and great location for beach

We stayed here as part of a Gate1 tour. The staff were friendly and the room was very nice. The restaurant had many options of local and “American” food. The location is perfect for visiting Copacabana Beach. All in all, we had a good experience.

The rooms are simply but nicely designed, the location is great, and the roof area has amazing views of Copacabana, the pricing is great, all together offering great value. Our only recommendation is that all restaurant/bar servers should have a basic level of English, which is expected for a 5 star hotel, especially in a country where the native language is spoken by less than 4% of the world's population.
