Banyan Tree Mayakoba never disappoints. From the serene location, to the service, make sure to visit soon. Our beachfront villa “hosts” (i.e., personal concierges/butlere) Regina and René handled all our needs — we recommend the beachfront rooms, for sure. Pepe (aka José), our host for our in-villa BBQ of the most delicious fajitas, was magnificent. The waiters at Sands Beach Club were great (after a slow start to service on our first day) as were the restaurant managers at Sands and Cello, where we had a lovely meal and excellent Prosecco. Diego at the beautiful spa was awesome, too!

The facilities are amazing. The service couldn’t be better. The restaurants are good but not worth the price. The drinks and food by the pool are great but expensive.

This is truly a unique and one of a kind resort experience fit for any romantic or honeymoon getaway. The resort resides in a jungle with private lagoons, rivers and bike paths. Every room comes with personal bikes to get you around the resort and the extended resorts nearby. The highlights: - Enormous private room with large private pool, spa, massive outdoor bathtub (very romantic with a candlelit wall), 2 outdoor showers and an indoor personal steam room (broken, but I’ll get to that later). - Extremely friendly staff that are always happy to assist whatever the need including making recommendations as to what restaurants are a must and others maybe to avoid. - Most of the restaurants/ food was outstanding. A couple places to avoid (get to that). - really can’t beat the overall ambiance, just an incredible experience. - the private sunset boat ride with tapas was something my wife and I will not soon forget, truly an inedible romantic experience and our Captain, Cesar, was awesome ! The not so great stuff: - Being that this is a 5 star resort, which you are constantly reminded of given how outrageously priced everything is, there would be certain expectations to be met such as: rooms in desperate need of a refresh or TLC. We found the first day that our lights were not working in our room in addition to a broken steam room in the shower, lights falling apart in the spa and overall state of certain elements within the room were in disrepair. Many missing pool tiles or half assed repair work was clearly visible. Rusting structural elements of the open pergola lean-tos on the upper deck. Some light outside just outright not working or burnt out. I don’t believe I’m nit picking when paying well over $1000 per night for a room. The room should be perfect. I will say, the resort made attempts to fix the steam room, although it took 2 days to fix out of the 3 nights we were there so I only got to use it once. The lights to the bedroom were fixed after about an hour of a very nice maintenance man running around. Overall, I think we spent 2-3 hours in the room with maintenance people fixing things that should have been working prior to our arrival. - We went to Tomahawk, the premier steakhouse, for my birthday dinner. Staff was friendly and accommodating as always, but the food was marginal at best. For a $600 steak dinner with a bottle of wine, I did feel it was worth the expense. The signature tomahawk steak was ok but certainly not worth the price paid. The cut was very fatty, chewy and not trimmed properly. It was cooked to our liking though of medium rare, a plus these days given the failure at other high end steakhouses we have visited both stateside and abroad. Again, overall the food on property was excellent. The made to order breakfast quesadilla at Orient breakfast buffet was out of this world and one of the highlights of all the things we ate. Overall, the resort (bedsides the room and dinner at tomahawk) was 5 star. If you’re looking for a beautiful, safe and unique romantic experience. Look no further.z thanks again to the banyan tree staff for an amazing and memorable experience.

New rooms are great on the ocean I have stayed here for years and these new rooms are so great The service is always good There is nothing like this place I would recommend for any couple of any age it just so fresh and a great place where you can just connect you two

This review comes definitely from the heart. This place has become our #1 spot to vacation!!! The perfect balance between fun, entertainment and relaxation while enjoying amazing cuisine and getting pampered all day long!!! The beautiful Banyan Tree is located in the middle of this stunning nature reserve which make every bike ride or golf cart ride unforgettable. I tell all our friends is like being in "Fantasy Island" The place is absolutely stunning but what makes us come back every time is the people and their incredible customer service. Just top notch !! From the moment you arrive its always so personable and special, it forces you to disconnect and truly enjoy the journey of the senses as their moto explains. It its great for couples , family trips and friend trips!! this place has it all! We are so blessed that we found this beautiful gem that now has become our favorite place. We are so thankful for Gaby , Nayeli and the whole reception , host team!!! Always on top of our stay making sure everything is perfect!! At Oriente (best brunch ever) Adulfo , Jesica , and Marcos have gone above and beyond every stay incredible and is one of the main reasons we keep coming back , along with Lucio, Rigoberto, Edna , Guadalupe and Ximena. Chef De La Dehesa since day one has made sure every meal is unforgettable , weather is lunch or a private dinner on the beach. Always perfect, Ched Brenda , Chef Sara always thankful for the delicious pastries and dishes. Roman the lifeguard everyday so pleasant and courteous. All the drivers Javier, Cesar, Christopher, Justino, Jesus, Jose. Thank you for making every ride so much fun. Pepe at the Haab, thak you thank you thank you for all your knowledge and making such a special night! Raul, Ricardo and now Sebastian. What a perfect team at the Reflections pool. Delicious drinks and great customer service. Diamante at Tomahauk always great service, Gamaliel, Alfredo, Gilberto, Edwin, Luis you make our brach stay every time perfection. Thank you for taking such good care of us and making my family so happy. So many other staff members that have been wonderful but so many to mention. Thank you to all!! Mr Cardona , congratulations !!! What a wonderful place and wonderful memories you and your team have always created for our family. We cant wait to come back and share with our family and friends.
