The Noisiest Hotel Ever!

It was my wife's 60th birthday so it was important to get it right. It's a well located hotel and nicely decorated, which as a designer is why I chose it. We were upgraded to the 7th floor as my wife is a long time Accord member who has travelled the world on business and uses Accord hotel a lot. Room 710 is next to the service elevator which runs 5.30am to 7p.m. The motor and braking system are on level 8, so we could hear every clunk from the heavy brakes stopping at every floor below. The hotel provided earplugs (not a good sign) and they didn't make a difference. Then the heavy metal band in the bar behind the hotel starts around 11pm and finishes at 1.30am. So we complained and we were moved to 704 away from the lift mechanism. This room faces the heavy metal rock bar (Everybody) next door which played loudly until 1am. The same night we complained and we were moved to 101 about 10.30. The third room was quiet until the smoke alarm went off at 5.30am. So, we decided to leave a day early with a wrecked birthday. The manager and all the staff were nice as they deal with this everyday and know the routine. The final straw was the manager could only give us a 50% reduction on the last night for leaving early, instead of a full refund. F***K

Horrendous weekend stay in this hotel. Nearby night clubs and karaoke bar were ridiculously loud until 4am, even from our 8th floor room. The room itself was ok, neat and tidy, however only serviced on one of the 3 nights we stayed. The fitness centre doubled up as a sauna, courtesy of the lack of any aircon. Probably a fair hotel for mid week travellers. Absolutely avoid Friday Saturday nights at your peril. Only hotel I’ve stayed to provide earplugs in your room …

This is my third time booking in for high tea at Cooke’s. I cannot rate it high enough- the food, the service and the cocktails are exceptional! Shoutout to Umut Bozbiyik who was so lovely in making us feel welcome and for his immaculate service. It is staff members like Umut that make guests want to book again. Overall, I strongly recommend Cooke’s restaurant as your next high tea destination.

Very nice, clean & central location. Mark, the concierge, was very friendly & helpful. The room was a good size & very comfortable. Large bathroom, clean & supplied with the essentials. I would recommend the Fable Auckland without hesitation.

Good central location but a crazy woman singing until 4am in the karaoke bar next door was so so loud it kept us up. It sounded like she was singing right outside our window. I guess there’s a reason they supply earplugs here. If you’re at all noise sensitive do not book here!! We tried to eat in the hotel restaurant but the service was so horrendous we couldn’t get food. They took 40 minutes just to bring our drinks, and we had to ask for them 3 times. The woman taking our order could not understand English. We asked if the calamari was fried. She nodded. We said great we’ll take it. She left. Five minutes later she came back and asked if we had ordered kumara fries. We said no, calamari. She left. Five minutes later she came back with a guy who asked us to confirm our order. Our appetizer showed up, we ate it and sat there still waiting for our drinks. They finally brought them then completely ignored us and never asked if we wanted to order food … which we had wanted to but were now being weirdly shunned and avoided by the waiter. He was acting REALLY awkward and weird. We asked for the check. 10 minutes later we asked again. He got really flustered and was avoiding eye contact with us and finally threw the check down and ran. When we left he wouldn’t even look at us. It was crazy.
