Rooms are small, old, but clean. Washroom was fine for someone short like me, but would be a nightmare for bigger frames. Hotel staff seem indifferent to, at times, borderline rude (Blair was the only bright spot, give that man a raise/promotion). WiFi was an absolute mess for the entire 2 weeks. Don’t plan on getting any work done if that’s something you need. Staff was never able to resolve this issue and were seemingly annoyed at being asked to. I received multiple explanations of how to connect to the internet, something they didn’t explain at check in. Nothing solved the problem. I’m not saying I wouldn’t stay here again, but I’ll definitely be looking elsewhere first. Hospitality is on life support at this hotel. My suggestion would be to use this location as a last resort.

Stayed at ibis Budget Auckland Central for a short trip. The bedding was clean, but the room felt cramped and dated. There’s a small kitchenette with a hob, but no pots or cooking tools provided. The bathroom setup is awkward — toilet and shower are in the same tiny space with just a curtain in between, so everything gets wet after use. Fixtures could use an update, and I noticed some dust around. Works if you just need a quick overnight stop, but definitely not ideal for longer stays.

The only positive thing I have to say about this hotel is the location. On arrival we were given a room that when we went up there wasn't even made up. Went back down to reception and were given the room next door which was in a terrible state of disrepair. The floor in the shower was lino that had a big square crack that was sinking and unstable. There was no remote for the TV which didn't have any reception. I went to call reception for help, only to find the phone doesn't work and was hanging onto the wall by one wire. I went back down to reception who did move us to yet another, mildly better room, however there was an underlying smell of what I can only describe as a mix of feet and cigarette smoke. Thankfully this room had a sliding door to let in fresh air. TV still didn't get any reception, so glad I bought my laptop and HDMI cable. I understand that this is a budget hotel, but the 3 rooms I saw are not as tidy and well presented as those in the hotel's website photographs.

Unbeatable location in the heart of the city. The rooms are decent, though the hotel itself feels quite dated. Check-in lacked warmth as one of the guy staff remained glued to their screens without acknowledging guests. However, the mini kitchenette with cutlery adds a practical touch for short stays. Great for budget-conscious travelers who prioritise location.

The worst we have ever experienced

I recently had a distressing stay at ibis hotel that fell short of my expectations in several key areas. The room lacked essential amenities, including hand soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, which had to be requested from reception and were single-use only. Additionally, the room did not feature a flat-screen TV, and cooking utensils and dish soap were also not provided. The Wi-Fi option was limited, with a clear indication that the connection would be slow. Furthermore, the bedding was not up to standard, with noticeable yellow stains on the blanket. Despite requesting a change, the replacement blanket had similar stains. Unfortunately, our stay was further marred by an issue with bed bugs, resulting in bites for both my partner and me witch we have proof of and Given the numerous shortcomings, I would rate our experience poorly and would not recommend this hotel to others. We have more photos but my goodness i hope from the ones i have shared you would not think twice.

As previously discussed with you, following the professional pest control inspection of the room you stayed in, we confirm that no evidence of bed bugs was found in the room or surrounding areas. This includes no signs of live bugs, shed skins, droppings, or any indication of nesting typically associated with an active infestation and we also provided you the report from the pest control company. We appreciate the documentation you’ve provided, however, we must respectfully clarify that a visual diagnosis alone cannot conclusively determine the source or location of the bites, as many types of skin reactions; such as those caused by mosquitoes, sand-flies, or allergic responses can appear similar to bed bug bites. I am sorry to hear that you felt the Wi-Fi was limited. We do have several free options, If you were not an ALL member or chose not become one then then you would have chosen the basic Wi-fi not the premium high speed option.
