Great staff, average junior suite room

When booking, the picture of the junior suite showed a completely seperate seating area from the bedroom with a door. The junior suite we were allocated had an awkward seating area in an odd shaped nook of the bedroom. All staff we encountered were fabulous. Dressed immaculately, friendly and professional. The meal we had in the restaurant was amazing. The included breakfast was a small fixed selection delivered on a plate. Not really a complimentary breakfast. There was no upgrade offered, and a disappointing late check out of 12pm available. If it weren’t for the amazing staff we would have felt very let down by the stay as a platinum member.

We felt cared for the whole time. We had an issue with our room but the way they looked after it was amazing. This included moving rooms and extra service that more than made up for it. Staff and managers were super friendly and we felt very special. I will always look to stay here whenever I’m in Auckland due to the way you’re looked after. The hotel is close to all amenities. This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

A perfect spot to stay if visiting Central Auckland .Easy access to the Ferry Terminal and Britomart . The grand Windsor lives up to it's name as it's a lovely Boutique Hotel with charming and professional staff. Everything was spotless and our room very comfortable.It really is a 4 star hotel with all the added extras that one would expect but doesn't always get . My only negative comment would be the meals.They were beautifully cooked and presented but extremely expensive and if we were not accor members I doubt we would not have eaten in the dinning room . However it would still be my number one choice of places to stay in Down Town Auckland. .

We have stayed at the Grand Windsor several times now, it's like a home away from home. The location is good for us, easy walking distance to Viaduct Basin and Britomart. We like the intimacy and character of this hotel, it's cool and dark - a welcome relief from the heat and glare outside. In winter it's cosy. The staff are great, Pablo out front and Maria in the restaurant were especially helpful and friendly. We have a favorite room that we always book, away from the noise of the nightclub next door (be warned if you're a light sleeper staying on a Friday or Saturday night). My wife is a coeliac so dining can be a minefield for her. The restaurant staff were super careful which was a relief. We can highly recommend this hotel, not that we want it to get TOO popular!

Comfortable Room and Fabulous Food

Great location, close to the waterfront, walk to the arena and shopping just outside the door. Bed was very comfortable and room service food was fabulous. I'd certainly look to stay again when visiting Auckland.

Luxury staycation.

We thoroughly deserved our 5 night Junior Suite pampering. Hotel Grand Windsor certainly provided this for us. Daily wine before dinner was much appreciated as was the OTT High Tea. Staff very attentive ,especially Concierge Leonid who we relied on for local shopping etc.

We had a very little room over queen Street. It was extremely noisy from the road with hoons going up and down the street all night. We had to ask for cups to make a cuppa in the room as there was none (perhaps because there was no room to keep them there) Lovely staff.

A delightfully deco experience

I am fortunate to have returned to the Hotel Grand Windsor just one week after my last stay. The lux art deco style of this hotel is rather decadent - plush furnishings, clean lines and attention to detail wherever you look, but what makes this hotel outstanding is its staff. I received friendly service the minute I stepped foot in this boutique hotel. I was thrilled to see the golden keys of Les Clef d'Or on the lapels of the concierge. Pablo and Leonid have been wonderfully helpful on both my visits. Warm and welcoming is how I would describe Angel and Rumi in reception, and the moment you are seated to check in you are presented with a refreshing iced tea by one of the concierge team. The two rooms I have stayed in were boutique, beautifully furnished and on theme with the rest of the hotel. The restaurant is an intimate, opulent space. Server Anastasia, chef Stavesh, and Sun made a fantastic trio in the restaurant when I had a delightful duck dish. Maria and the morning kitchen team presented some of the best scrambled eggs I have eaten. The staff here go above and beyond because they know what good customer service is. And it's the one thing that will bring me back again. I received exceptional service from Charlie in housekeeping who could see I was having a mini hair disaster right before I was heading to a formal function. Not only was she bright and cheery, and clearly hard working, she even offered to help me restyle it. That is what I call service. Thank you Charlie for this caring gesture. The turndown service here is an extra treat with new recruit Meretiana providing a sleep tea and chocolates. A blissful way to end a working day! I had the privilege of meeting Chris the General Manager this morning. Like the rest of his team he was courteous, friendly and a delight to meet. This is a lovely hotel - central and beautifully presented – but clearly what has made a lasting impression on me is the Grand Windsor team. Looking forward to returning here to see your friendly faces again soon.

Rooms were pleasant. Funny smell when you entered but nothing major. Treadmill in gym was too loud to listen to tv and touch screen didn’t work well. Needs a service. Restaurant was nice but rather small menu choices. Staff were very nice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were outstanding in their service. They were professional and genuinely seemed happy in their work. They also seemed to genuinely be friends with each other (unlike other 5 stars where there is professionalism but a very hierarchical relationship/structure), this translated to a very warm, professional and friendly relationship with the customers. The room was beautiful. The hotel itself was spotless and the welcome started at checkin where you receive a cup of berry infused chamomile tea. The High tea Was beautifully presented and delicious and the breakfast was a perfect start to the day. Will definitely be back.

wonderful time at the Grand Windsor. from the time we got there we were greeted by the concierge and made to feel very welcome. the staff here are awesome nothing is too much. cant wait to go there again :):)

Must try harder

Stayed at this hotel from the 3rd to 5th July. From the onset not great as they over charged me about $140 as I paid for one night with points and the other with card. But on arrival they took $600 when it should of been 200 deposit 266 for the room. Have stayed in other sofitel or partner groups with no problems and had a nice stay this was such a disappointment then it goes on. No remote for the speaker or TV had to call to get one then made a coffee no cups tea spoons in room had to call again . Then having come back after a day out Room not made up after 1st night. I did put the light on to service the room. Room 102 . Such a disappointment.when paying that price you want the best. But the food was nice.

Noise issues

Great decor, and nice room facilities, great loacation. However very noisey from surrounding bars, until early hours of the morning. Could also hear the neighbours when they came home. Not what you expect from a 5 star hotel.

Great stay in Auckland waterfront

Hotel was very nice and staff very accomodating. Website was a bit misleading as it said self parking was available onsite - it was not and was not close so we ended up using the valet parking. The biggest issue was finding the entrance to the hotel so we could park and drop off the bags. they had taxis blocking the space so we had to call the hotel to find out how to get in and they had to move a taxi. It would have been more effective and obvious where to go if they had just cordoned off the area Otherwise, the stay was fine. the location is perfect - we could walk everywhere. Room was comfortable and complementary water (2 bottles) was provided each day. We did hear some music from the surrounding areas very late at night, but it wasn't loud and certainly didn't disturb our sleep. Would definitely stay here again.

An oasis in the city with such beautifully appointed rooms. The lack of any views is made up for by the decor and sense of calm. Lovely staff, excellent breakfast - highly recommend. Not the cheapest hotel in town but worth it if it's in your budget range.

We arrived in the early hours of the morning so did not get to really appreciate the property. The room and bathroom were spacious and well-equipped. Decor very interesting and some lovely T2 teas and espresso capsules on offer. I loved the bath robes too! The only negative thing was that is was hard to keep out the light and was awoken very early so had to use an eyemask which i had with me.

Stayed here several times. The rooms are always fresh and clean. The location is fantastic. The only downside would be the noise from Queens St, if you are in one of the few rooms over looking it. But, if you want to be in the middle of the city, handy to the waterfront, then its not too much of a compromise. Beds are very comfy, staff very friendly. Decor is gorgeous!
