Please dont waste your money! We are staying in the fairmont in Mekka Clock tower and paying $700 per night for a room which has a connecting door. The person next door smokes non stop after breaking his fast and because of the connecting room all the smoke fills in our room. I feel like I am sleeping in a smoke shop. We have complained to the hotel for 3 days now with them telling us they will send security and tell the person to stop as its a non smoking facility. Well the person doesnt care and he keeps smoking. If Fairmont can not enforce their non smoking policy they should have atleast have the decency to change our room but they didnt. I will never stay here again! I am dreading the 2 more days I have to spend here!

A Complete Ripoff – Taking Advantage of Pilgrims!

Stayed here in Early Feb 2025 - I have never been more disappointed in a so-called luxury hotel. The Fairmont Makkah is an absolute ripoff, charging outrageous prices while delivering a subpar experience. It is clear they are exploiting pilgrims who come here for a sacred journey, knowing that people will pay for the convenience of being close to the Haram. 1) Filthy Bathrooms & Broken Showers: For the amount they charge, I expected pristine cleanliness, but instead, the bathroom had mold, dirty grout, and a broken shower. Absolutely unacceptable. 2) Old, Outdated Rooms: The rooms feel stuck in the past—worn-out furniture, old appliances, and a general sense of neglect. This is nowhere near a 5-star experience. 3) Ridiculous Extra Charges: They don’t even provide something as basic as milk in the room, and when I requested some, they had the audacity to charge 25 riyals for it! Just another way to squeeze money out of guests. 4) Nightmare Elevator System: Every time you leave for prayer, you need to take two separate elevators, which can take up to 10 minutes just to exit the building! For a hotel that caters to pilgrims, this is an absolute joke. 5) Blatant Scam by Concierge: The hotel’s own concierge tried to scam us by quoting a ridiculously high price for a taxi to Jeddah airport. They know guests are at their mercy and take full advantage of it. 6) Only partial view of the kaaba Not Worth the Price – Feels Like a 3-Star Hotel at Best. The Fairmont Makkah is nothing more than a money-making machine preying on pilgrims. They charge luxury rates but provide a mediocre experience, cutting corners wherever possible. I would never stay here again. Save your money and book elsewhere—this place is not worth it.
