We had a wonderful experience celebrating my wife's 70th birthday. Every staff member we encountered, from the check- in when we arrived to the doorman when we left were delightful and always professional and helpful. We had cocktails in the Beaufort bar with the rest of our family before eating at the River Restaurant. The meal and service was first class, the restaurant is mainly seafood with a wide choice and modern luxurious decor. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a river view room and the balloon and birthday cake were much appreciated.

We chose to stay at the Savoy as it was my 50th birthday and wanted to celebrate in style. From the moment we arrived outside and were greeted by Genci, your doorman, we were treated like royalty. The entire Savoy team including restaurant and bar staff were fantastic. We only stayed for two nights, however, we are now returning for a second stay later in the year to celebrate my partners 50th. It exceeded every expectation and the luxury river view room was beautiful. Thank you for making it special for us, we look forward to returning this December!

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at The Savoy celebrating her birthday. From the moment we arrived we were treated amazingly - little touches to show the hotel had thought - a Happy Birthday balloon in our room, a small birthday cake in our room and a birthday cake in the River Restaurant. We have some fantastic memories from our stay with The Savoy.

I booked this visit as a surprise birthday gift for my husband - The Savoy was kind enough to place a bunch of balloons in his room and a little cake and he was very thrilled by this. We were upgraded to a 'superior' room as there weren't too many people staying there at the time due to the pandemic. The furniture in the room left a bit to be desired - not really up to the standard one would expect of the Savoy, reproduction, dark, and bulky with drawer bottoms made of very thin and cheap plywood. The American Bar, which we love was sadly closed, they wouldn't serve us sandwiches in the Beaufort Bar so we chose some extremely strange vegetable mini burgers instead, as we were both tired and extremely hungry after ta train journey to London. The bathroom was clean and spacious, although it could have done with a bidet. Service at the Savoy was great, as always, everyone was polite and welcoming. Hubby said the breakfast was fabulous and he had a couple of perfectly poached eggs. At the end of our stay, when we were presented with the bill, we found a charge of £29.60 per night added to it - when I queried it, I was told it was a service charge to pay cleaners, porters etc and I could have it taken off if I liked, to which I replied, 'I would like!' We had tipped the people as we went along and pay service charges in restaurants, but I don't think it's right to slip in an extra charge and leave it for me to discover and query. I'm afraid that didn't sit well with me.

Warmly met at reception, and discreetly discussed my plans as I had a few surprises arranged for my partner. Balloon, cards & cakes in our room on arrival and again as we dined from restaurants all made the weekend special. Restaurants were fantastic, and all staff friendly, welcoming and professional. Atmosphere was relaxed & comfortable. Our room had been upgraded, it was very comfortable & our bathroom was excellently supplied with Penhaligan toiletries, what a treat!

We had a lovely time at the Savoy. There were lots of thoughtful little touches as soon as we arrived: a delicious (vegan) birthday cake, balloons, champagne and snacks waiting in our room. Very considerate, considering that I only mentioned my partner’s birthday in passing. Our room was huge and had a lovely view of the Thames - they upgraded us as it was the first week in January and London was quiet. We had time for a walk around Covent Garden and a swim in the hotel’s pool (we had it to ourselves), before dinner. We ate at The Grill and had one of the best dining experiences of my life - despite me thinking that, being non-meat eaters, we might get fobbed off something that was an afterthought. My only warning would be to beware of the bread - it is delicious. We had no self control devouring it and the staff brought us more before we’d even had our starter. We returned to our room, to find the turn down service had tidied everything away, dimmed the lights and tuned the bedroom radio into Radio 3 very quietly. By strange synchronicity all the music played were our personal favourites. Obviously, I can’t credit the management with that last point, but it made for a magical evening. Breakfast was superb. It was a really delightful stay. None of the staff gave less that 100%. We will definitely be going back on the next significant anniversary! I cannot recommend the hotel enough!

Fabulous Room With A View

It was lovely in terms of the beautiful river view room we were upgraded to. Thank You. We loved watching the sunset and sunrise. Also the afternoon tea and Jon the piano player were brilliant. There a couple of disappointments. We were a little early and were told our room would be ready in a few minutes. However we ended up waiting over 45 minutes with no one checking in with us. We felt we could have occupied our time better. Plus on the Accor reservation site you can still choose a smoking room. My daughter who booked it, ticked this option as she knew it was important to my wife. She even mentioned it subsequently in communication and no one told her this was not possible. Hence my wife was looking forward to this (she is disabled and getting from the room to outside where she could smoke is not easy). We suggest this option is removed as a booking feature.

I would have given a 10 but we ordered room service and was told there was no hot food, we could only have ham and cheese platters and crisps. ( I am sure if the penthouse suites ordered room service, they would get anything they wanted) I believe all guests should be treated the same no matter what they spend. When the platters arrived, there was no ham, just cheese and no crackers. Also when we went for breakfast we were told it was included in the room, but when we checked out we were charged for the breakfast. They did eventually take it off the bill but the experience at the Savoy wasn't what we expected. It was our first time staying at the Savoy and we were very excited. We are booked to stay again on the 14th February. I just hope the stay in February lives up to our expectations.

There are not enough superlatives to describe the cleanliness and service of the hotel. I will only stay at the savoy when I come to London.
