Hotel is wonderful. In a great condition. Excellent service. Amazing design and quality of materials. Great restaurants & breakfast. Overall a 9/10. However, 2 little areas with room for improvement: 1) SPA is limited (no pool) but in great condition. 2) Reception personell is very friendly but not 100% professional (I was offered a free upgrade to a better suite, I was shown the upgrade-suite and then (just before moving over) received a call later on, that the upgrade will come with a cost) -> but I received a free bottle of champagne later for this confusion, which was a nice gesture. However, I would have expected to receive another apology for this annoyance at checkout, which they missed. Since these are only minor points, the overall rating is a 9/10 which no other luxury-hotel has ever received from me.

Hamburg is our family's favourate city in Germany and this hotel is an icon. Wonderful service from all the staff and especially the concierge - wow! They made our stay with my grand children extra special. The etiquette course for my grand children (15 & 17) was unique, practical and much enjoyed! Lessons for life. Every aspect of this hotel is to be commended. Excellent food, outstanding service and close to Hamburg's wonderful shops. You can't wish for more.

We are coming to HH since more than 20 years, 1 to 3 times per year, and we have always stayed at H4JZ, we never thought about changing hotel. Which is the best sign ever, showing how satisfied we are in general with the service. There is in fact nothing to complain, all is at its best !

Beautiful, classy hotel in a great location. We made a reservation for 2 rooms for 2 nights on a prepaid rate. Unfortunately we could not arrive the 1st night. But the benefit of it was that we should have our rooms ready early. That was what we where told at reception as well but when I got to the room it was a mess and not ready at all ! The other room was ready. Now my father and brother who stayed in that other room got an upgrade to a beautiful suite, it would have made more sence to give the upgrade to me and my 2 sons who had the issue with the room not being ready. That being said, we had lunch and dinner at the Grill which was excellent. Friendly staff as well but priced as a Michelin starred restaurant. Breakfast the same, excellent. Checkout however was a mess again, I was told that although we were on a prepaid rate I would get a compensation for 1 night for the 1 room that wasn't ready when we arrived. What a beautiful gesture but in the end we didn't get that. In fact at first I was told that I had to pay for the room while we had already paid. Then they got it right but I ended up paying for the food and parking and nothing about the compensation. What a chaos it was. I do feel that our experience was not the standard. If staying in Hamburg again this would be our choice of hotel.

An all round excellent stay with fantastic and thoughtful service. Check-in was very smooth, we were graciously shown round the hotel, given thoughtful comments on what restaurants we might like to visit and a brief tour of our room which was spacious, comfortable and well equipped with the expected amenities. The location is fantastic, right near the city centre but a peaceful location on the lake. There are a number of restaurants, we enjoyed the Grill & tea in the lounge and had wonderful experiences. They aren't cheap, but as the saying goes you get what you pay for with the tea being accompanied with a complimentary stand of the most delightful pastries and beautiful piano playing live. The service is what sets the hotel apart, umbrellas appeared as soon as the rain clouds gathered, when you entered the hotel you were greeted warmly and staff would call the elevator so it was waiting as you entered the lobby, service was warm and personable and the staff were happy to share recommendations and tips. We would happily return.
