Catastrophic Restaurant Service Ruined Our Stay

We were a group of 12 people who stayed for four nights and celebrated New Year’s Eve at this hotel. The hotel itself is nice, and the rooms are nice as well. Unfortunately, the overall rating is significantly lowered due to the catastrophic service in the restaurants — both Mad Cow and the one on the entrance level. The service is extremely poor. One evening we waited over 90 minutes for our food. We had to ask four times for the wine we had ordered, which never arrived until after we had finished our meal. You constantly have to call the staff to remind them that you want to order, to check that you haven’t been forgotten, and so on. They also couldn’t arrange for our group to sit together and eat, despite the restaurant being only half full. The New Year’s Eve dinner was a joke. Food was forgotten, no drinks were served, and some guests only received sauce without the rest of the meal. We complained about this dinner (which was extremely overpriced) and were given two bottles of sparkling wine as compensation. Unfortunately, every visit to the hotel’s restaurants was just as bad. This is a major problem, as the hotel is located in the middle of nowhere and there are no other restaurants nearby. In the end, we took the bus into the city to eat just to avoid the hotel, as every visit ended in disappointment. I would absolutely not recommend staying at Pullman.

Mad Cow, a place you want to return to 🫶 I visited Mad Cow Restaurant, located on the top floor of Pullman Phu Quoc Beach Resort, twice within just six days, and that alone says everything. From the very first visit, the quality was so outstanding that despite many other tempting dining options in Phu Quoc, I chose to come back again. This is a place that truly delivers the best of all worlds. The restaurant offers exceptional meat cuts and an impressive variety of dishes, all executed at a very high level. The wine selection is wide, well curated, and perfectly complements the food, making the overall dining experience feel complete and refined. What truly elevates Mad Cow, beyond the food, is the service. The team works seamlessly together with genuine care and professionalism. A special mention to Ms. Chi, the Thai chef, and Khang, who together with the rest of the team delivered an outstanding experience, taking care of every detail and every request with warmth, precision, and a true passion for hospitality. Another unforgettable highlight is the setting. The open sea view, combined with the stunning sunset, creates a magical atmosphere. Dining here as the sun sets over the ocean is simply breathtaking and adds a unique emotional layer to the evening. The design of the restaurant is also exceptional, elegant, modern, and thoughtfully curated. Every little detail feels intentional and contributes to a sophisticated yet welcoming ambiance. Highly recommended to anyone looking for exceptional food, excellent wine, outstanding service, beautiful design, and one of the best sunset views in Phu Quoc, all in one place. 🌅🥩🍷

Pullman Phu Quoc Beach Resort – Fawlty Towers on Long Beach

Pullman Phu Quoc promotes itself as a luxury resort with extremely high ratings (9.8 on TripAdvisor). In reality, it is a hotel where the system simply doesn’t work, and this affects many guests – not just once, but repeatedly. Sunbeds: If you want a sunbed by the pool or beach, you need to wake up early and “claim” one – just like a charter hotel in Turkey. Otherwise, you’re out of luck. Food & drinks: Vegetarian options are almost non-existent. Example: Vietnamese pancakes with vegetables were not available without meat – even though two vegetarian dishes were listed on the menu. The final choice? Mashed potatoes or French fries. The local beer was out of stock, but replacing it with another beer at the same price was “not possible”. Service: After 45 minutes, our group of 12 still hadn’t received a single drink. We gave up and had dinner in our room instead, with locally bought beer. It wasn’t just us – the entire restaurant (around 100 guests) was visibly frustrated. Management & overall experience: Imagine Basil Fawlty from Fawlty Towers running the restaurant operations – the same ridiculous chaos and inability to handle basic service. New Year’s Eve: A complete fiasco, “compensated” with two bottles of sparkling wine and four soft drinks for seven adults and five children. Which child was supposed to go without a drink was never explained. Summary: A beautiful resort with impressive facilities, but a fundamentally broken system. This is not bad luck – it’s something every guest will eventually experience.
