9.2 “Anniversary & Homecoming” It is heartbreaking to write this, as our stay at the Mercure had such potential. While the Manager’s welcome note was a kind gesture, it stands in painful contrast to the utter failure of the rest of our experience. I had meticulously planned my marriage proposal and specifically coordinated with the hotel to have the room decorated. Despite an agreed-upon fee and my clear excitement, I walked into a room that was cold, empty, and completely untouched. To experience such a total lack of care during the most important moment of my life was devastating. The anticipation was met with a hollow silence that no amount of 'good hospitality' can fix. The disappointment unfortunately followed us to CavaKita. While the Tuak cocktails showed a glimmer of creativity, the rest of the meal was a soul-crushing experience. A simple Old Fashioned was botched, and the food felt like an afterthought. Serving stale, old chips and a tasteless dip is an insult to a paying guest; the prawn salad was equally disjointed and confusing. The bed was comfortable, and the rest was needed, but a hotel should be more than just a mattress—it should be a partner in its guests' milestones. Instead, I left feeling that my special occasion was nothing more than a forgotten note on a desk. You have the foundation for a great stay, but you failed us when it mattered most. Nonetheless, thanks for the warm hospitalities! Will definitely be back again, there’s surely room for improvement!
