The stay in here was a great choice, the rooms with the pool view is a very great option, the food was good, and service was great especially the friendly service from Bunty.

Convenient location, but cleanliness issues and excessive staff interruptions

The hotel is located near the airport, and the shuttle service to the terminals is very convenient. Unfortunately, my stay was greatly affected by serious cleanliness issues and frequent staff interruptions that felt excessive and intrusive. The toilet and surrounding floor were extremely dirty and clearly not properly cleaned, which was very disturbing. There were also stains on the curtains and headboard, and multiple hairs (obviously from different people) in the shower. The kettle did not work, and the toiletries had no tamper protection. I booked a day-use stay (9am–5pm) and was told at check-in that a 6pm checkout was acceptable. Despite this, during the roughly 4 hours I stayed, staff knocked on my door six times, repeatedly asking about my checkout time. The constant interruptions made it impossible to rest, and I eventually lost patience and checked out early. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with my experience and cannot recommend this hotel.

I have waited a week to do a review for this place, this hotel was supplied free of charge to me by the airline, if I was a paying customer at $300 NZD a night no way - I’d have asked for a refund and found another hotel!! I complained at checkout as I was only here for about 5 hours, it was a 2am check in and a 7am checkout. All was said was my room number, sorry and that was that like who cares, not you lot! Mixed reviews on google and trip advisor. Other people I spoke to also bad experience. The bulbs were missing from the beds, no face cloths or hand towels, rusty kettle, mouldy curtains, manky/musty smell in corridors and room, stains in the bed even! Glass looked like it had been thru the dishwasher but still had things on it. The water was sealed so that was safe to use, I wasn’t even tempting to use the glasses or teacups provided. I wasn’t even tempting room service after this! The man who helped me with the elevator at check in was amazing he even asked if I would like him to come with me to my room as an escort if I needed more help - bravo!! The shuttle was a 7am pickup, 25mins late but oh don’t bother to tell anyone the guy who was doing traffic until we ask?? Oh another 25mins WHAT!!?? We all had international flights to catch no way! Hailed a taxi and left. Buffet - freshly made In front of you omlette - great yum hot! The rest of buffet, sausages, potatoes? Steamed vegetables all cold, like warm is putting it nicely. One way to give your customers food poisoning, the rest was ok lots of salads, fruit etc to choose from. Huge line at tea/coffee so don’t bother. I’m really disappointed in this hotel, as part of the grand Mercure chain I expected better, I have stayed at ibis hotels before and never had such a bad stay!
