for us the absolute best hotel in Australia, which we have been. From check in to the staff, all high-class. Very friendly, helpful. Rooms were very clean. it was a pleasure to have stayed there. would go back immediately again. Location was great, everything in walking distance.

OMG. What a great Hotel. Stayed for 8 nights and loved everything about this hotel. The Lounge is great for a clam down after a busy day. Great staff that assisted us and made our stay special include but not limited to are Helen on reception, Roshan in the Lounge, Sharon our awesome Bfast Chef and not forgetting....Gogo at Restaurant. GM Scott was so visible and approachable. Food and drink in both Lounge and restaurant was brilliant. Great room was allocated to us as John has mobility issues. Thank you again all for a great stay. We will be back.

My wife and I loved being here and being able to entertain our son, who has just moved to Adelaide, in style there. Room 2110 was a marvel with perfect picture window views of the Adelaide Hills and extensive window seat couches upon which to lounge and bask. the accoutrements were all excellent and I adored the classical detached bath and mosaic tiles in the shower stall. The 6th floor gymnasium and 5th floor pool we're also splendid facilities. We also found that the staff were, in general, very caring here.

I recently stayed at the Sofitel Adelaide and noticed a decline in the quality of service and amenities compared to previous experiences. The breakfast menu was limited, offering only a basic continental selection and a few hot dishes. Additionally, the bedding lacked the luxurious feel I had come to expect from Sofitel. Service was also lacking, with no porter or greeter present, giving the hotel a less-than-high-end atmosphere.

Loyalty and service seem to mean little with Sofitel and Accor

Seriously. I am a Diamond Member with Accor's loyalty program and have been with them for a long time, averaging 80 nights a year. Not bragging, but I speak from experience. Showing loyalty to them seems to mean very little these days. Service levels are heading south. Here's why.... I called Adelaide Sofitel today to book monthly trips for the rest of the year. I reached reservations to question the online prices and conditions for rooms I was looking at. As a Diamond member I receive complementary breakfasts. However, all bookings for all available rooms I viewed online included breakfast. I didn't need to pay an extra $40/day when this is complementary in my case. I was told on the phone that the "included breakfast" was shown on my account because I logged online using my membership. THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE. I know this for a fact from booking other Accor hotels and I also have screenshots showing different prices for other rooms I was looking at, with and without breakfast. Essentially, I was being misinformed so Accor could collect another $200 for each stay. Not OK. Second point, Accor in recent months have started charging a premium of around 15% of the room rate for "free cancellation". So, in the end, they want at least an extra $200 per stay from me if I need to cancel a booking - in my case this would only in be in the event of an emergency. This "premium" didn't always exist in the past. Their competition, like the Marriott DO NOT charge fees like this. So all up, Accor want close to $5,000 a year extra for my loyalty between breakfasts I don't need to pay for, and cancelled bookings I never make. This was an issue for me, and that's why I called the Sofitel in Adelaide directly to see if there were other options available for a loyal Diamond member. In the end, the reservations agent was quoting the same expensive pricing I was seeing on the screen. I asked if that was the best she could do, to which she answered yes. She then offered for me to speak with a manager, which I excepted. While on hold, I was cut off. I called back, and was cut off again. I called again, and was offered to leave a message. Twelve hours later no call, no email... nothing. I am sure I am not the only one experiencing this rather unpleasant slide in service and inattention to customer loyalty. So be warned. This may be my last year with Accor. They have a few stand out staff in all their hotels, but generally, service levels are fading and definitely not worth the money. I do hope they may respond to my plea and not make an insignificant gesture.
