Very noisy

Very very noisy from a nightclub across the road. Don’t stay here is you want to sleep. This is obviously outside the control of the hotel, but room shaking base late into the night is a serious problem. The room is nice enough. The restaurant food was a bit ordinary.

My room was quiet and ok. No bath. I have no complaints, except that the bathroom lighting was poor. Specifically, there was no lighting for the mirror. It's convenient for the Convention centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful at check-in. It was generally pleasant and unremarkable.

When we checked in we were upgraded to a suite, don’t know why, didn’t ask, just accepted with grace. Suite was great, sofa, large screen TV, large sitting/living area, food fridge & wine fridge, 4 pan hot plate hob, microwave and dishwasher. Sleeping area, king size bed, also with TV and large wet room, bed too soft for our liking. Suite was 1st floor, but no street noise, which was a surprise as there were hoards of partying students going past the hotel as we were in the restaurant on our final night, but no noise in the room. Reception staff, helpful, bar staff generally pleasant, restaurant staff, hit and miss. Has washing and drying facilities, washing machine cost 4A$ & dryer free, free washing powder at reception. Breakfast, fair amount of choice, if some of the grilled(?) food was a little greasy. Selection of fresh & tinned fruit along with yogurts, bread, pastries, and a coffee machine serving a selection of coffees. Tip, if you opt for the 10A$ voucher for not having you room serviced more than once, it only applies for separate bills, so order your drinks at the bar & pay using your voucher, then pay for the meal separately using your voucher. Didn’t use the roof top (didi) pool or bar.

I’ve stayed here several times over the past year, and even recommended it to friends. But I doubt I will return. Rooms are modern, spacious, and well priced, but there was no heat working on a winter’s night, the USB socket didn’t work to charge our phones, and the clerk wrote the wrong floor on our check in card, so we lugged our bags twice to different floors. Plus the on-site hotel car park was pre-allocated, although their online advice is first come first serve. When we asked to speak to the manager on three different occasions, he was never available. (I often stay at Sofitel, and despite their 300+ rooms, the GM always has time to personally say hello, good bye and anything extra!) The lobby is a dark and vacuous, no fault of the management, but of the architect. (Likewise, the bedroom bathroom doors are frosted glass, so if your partner has a nocturnal call, light will shine on the bed.) Check-in staff greeting is gloomy. I was reminded of this contrast last week when I stayed instead at a fellow Accor property, and was greeted with a smiling effusive welcome, a chatty, helpful bartender, plus a welcoming pre-arrival telephone call to confirm my reservation and any special needs. That new hotel made us feel special, the Rockford doesn’t.

Hi stay in this hotel often as I receive unbelievably good customer service every time we go. Which makes it hard to stay anywhere else in Adelaide. Lovely rooms, great location
