Double booking, lack of response

I had booked a one-night stay at the Hotel Mercure Hyde Park for the night of November 22 and received a confirmation directly from their website. However, when I checked on the reservation one week prior to my stay, I was told that there was no record of it. As a result, I had to make a new booking at a higher cost. When I arrived at the hotel, I was surprised to find that two rooms had in fact been reserved under my name. This is the situation I had tried to clarify earlier, and it caused additional expense. I emailed the hotel to make sure that I was charged only once and to issue any necessary refund. I expect more from a hotel that charged $410 for one night. I am still waiting to hear back. I have always appreciated good service, which makes the lack of response particularly disappointing.

Unfortunately, we have a new starter on our reservations team and they became confused when confirming your booking. Once again, please accept my sincere apologies. Upon your arrival, you mentioned this to our front desk and we honoured the first booking that was made at the lowest price. To clarify, the rate was not $410 it was significantly lower. Had an issue at check in,seems they were surprised for an asian to book superior room at their hotel. It comes with further surprises. Took shower and whole drainage is blocked and water is flooding in my room now. Asked to change room but in vain. Disappointing experience as their platinum member.

Dear Wajahat G, We are not surprised that you booked a Privilege room. The issue is that you were unable to log in to your Accor account to confirm that the booking was legitimate. Recently, we have encountered several fraud cases where Accor members’ accounts were hacked and used without their knowledge. For this reason, you were asked to log in to your account and to present valid identification which you declined to do. It seems there may be some misunderstanding regarding the hotel category and the rate. You paid £140 for your room, which corresponds to the room type you reserved. If you believed you were booking a luxury property such as the Dorchester this may have caused confusion. As with all hotels identification is required at check-in to confirm we are checking in the correct guest. When the booking is under one name and the payment card under another additional verification is standard procedure as this can indicate that something is not correct. Kind Regards, Imed Chikhaoui

I stayed in the Mercure London Hyde Park Hotel for 3 nights while visiting London for work. I had originally booked the Hotel Indigo, but there was an issue with access to rooms in that hotel due to unforeseen maintenance. I was kindly accommodated in the Mercure (which is physically connected to the Indigo and has the same owner). My room was London-sized but clean, comfortable and well-appointed. Staying in Paddington is so convenient to Heathrow, the GWR and an easy walk to 'town'.

Stayed 2 nights for a weekend trip arriving by plane and by train from Heathrow, the hotel was a good choice near Paddington station. Many bars and restaurants around the corner within 5 minutes walk. Tube and bus station also nearby so it’s easy to travel around the city. Hyde Park is also reachable by foot easily. The hotel room was nice, large and mostly quiet. Only the cleanliness could have been better (dust mostly), and more mirrors in the room to use the hairdryer properly. The WiFi signal was too low to be used in the room. King bed is really comfortable, bathroom was good and the shower power was good too. The sink wasn’t working properly. Minibar with free drinks upon arrival (for Executive room booked). Breakfast was included in my rate and I enjoyed it as the Bella Italia restaurant adjacent to the hotel (small buffet and a la carte choice). My recommendation would be to welcome the club members guests in a better way (wasn’t greeted at all as a Silver All Accor member). Overall, a good stay. I can recommend.

This hotel was very disappointing! We booked a family room (parents + 1 child) based on the photos available on the Accor website/app, and we got a windowless room with three single beds lined up facing a wall! Similarly, the images available for the hotel in general are completely misleading. The only positive point is the location, which is very pleasant. In conclusion, avoid this place!

Our team explained that the full room size includes the bathroom area as is standard in room descriptions. To address your concerns we showed you alternative family rooms but you remained dissatisfied. In an effort to resolve the matter and ensure your comfort we offered you two adjacent rooms with the second room provided completely free of charge. At that time you expressed that you were happy with this solution. Additionally to make your stay more enjoyable we extended complimentary breakfast for the entire duration of your visit.
