My husband and I arrived early in the morning from a 17 hour flight to this nice property. Check in was quick and we have learned over the years that if you are flying overnight it is well worth booking your room or suite from that night prior. When you arrive your room will have been turned down and you can then arrive to a rest and shower before beginning your vacation. So that is what we again did and we were very happy to arrive to our junior suite overlooking the harbor - ready with no delay. We also had the club floor included and that view is beautiful - and the daily food and beverage presentations were just right for us. The offerings in the morning were more than plenty and we also enjoyed the evening cocktail hour and hors d’oeuvres. This is a busy hotel and as we stayed over the New Year holiday it was very busy. We never felt rushed and service was professional and very attentive. The hotel is very well situated just steps from the harbor walk and offers beautiful views as well as proximity. It was not as close to the shopping we enjoyed or the opera house but those areas were still easy to reach. This hotel is a nice choice and for our first ever visit to Sydney was a great one.

More Holiday Inn Express than Sofitel.

We booked an upgraded corner room and were very disappointed with the view we got of some cranes and a building under construction. We had been travelling from Canada (24 hours on 2 flights and 16 hours of time change) so we did not have the strength to go back to the front desk and demand another room but we truly felt scammed as the room had nothing to do with the pictures on the website This tainted our whole experience and this by far the worst Sofitel hotel we have stayed at. The pool area was also very crowed with no loungers available and a lot of kids running around yelling and just being kids. We were supposed to come back here in a couple of weeks, needless to say we have cancelled our reservation and will stay somewhere else.

A great staycation

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic staycation here for a few days between the Xmas and NYE period. Location is perfect right next to convention light rail and also close walking distance to many eateries and bars outside the hotel. Our room was on level 28 and had partial view of the harbor which looked amazing, especially at night. The room itself was clean, modern and soundproof, it's very nice and peaceful as soon as you get to your floor. We spent a couple of days by the pool too (level 4), which still has a great view of Darling harbor despite the new Mirvac development going up next door. While at the pool we also enjoyed the food and cocktails from the pool bar (Le Rivage), both the beef and chicken burgers were delicious. Shout out to Jennifer who worked at Le Rivage, her service was excellent, the pool and bar area were very busy at times and she handled it so well, she even came over and topped us up with water a few times. Special mention to Sarina and Conner too.

Overall we always enjoy our time at the Sofitel Darling Harbour. This would have been our 6th stay at your hotel since July 2025. Firstly I want to acknowledge the team at Club Millésime. Coming to Sofitel Darling Harbour Lvl 35 feels like our home away from home. We always enjoy being greeted by Phillip when we walk through and then served by Danica (love that she remembers my drink order without having to tell her) & Harry while in the lounge. During this stay we went to both the Champagne Bar and Atelier (for dinner). The food at Atelier was amazing as always. This was our first time at the Champaign Bar. For bar snacks the pork skewer and the chicken were both extremely flavourful and moist. On our next stay we will be coming back to Champaign Bar based on the food alone. I also want to give a special mention to Cecelia who served us on the night. She was bright and bubbly, very attentive and made the evening feel special. Even though the weather wasn’t perfect, I spent some time by the pool during the stay. Frankie at the bar was wonderful. I was undecided on what cocktail I wanted to drink. I told him what kind of drink/flavours I normally like and he made me a drink that wasn’t on the menu. I liked it so much I ordered 2 more. The room itself was very comfortable and serviced well during our stay. There was some issues during our stay however these have been raised directly with management.

Just had a night at Sofitel Darling Harbour. On arrival had car valet parked, however had to carry own luggage from car to room via check in. Had a room looking over Darling Harbour, great view, comfortable bed & room had good amenities. However, only 2 herbal tea bags in drawer, yet there was 8 sugars?? Saving grace was we had a coffee in lobby lounge which was perfect & a nice atmosphere. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times, however nothing has matched the experience we received when we stayed there 8 years ago. From the time we stepped out of the car we were welled looked after. Our luggage was put on a trolley straight away, as we entered the hotel we were offered a complimentary refreshment. In our room we had complimentary bottle of water and a selection of teas. When we checked out and our car was brought to us, there was a little box of chocolates on dash board with a note, ‘safe travels & we look forward to you staying with us again’. These extra touches & the staff been attentive made you feel welcomed & important. It’s these little touches that make a 5 star rating hotel. Sadly the Sofitel Darling Harbour does not live up to the expectations of a 5 star rating, that it once did.
