The Sofitel darling harbour is a 10/10 and that’s not an over exaggeration. My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed at all. From the moment we stepped foot into this establishment we felt the luxury of what the Sofitel is. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Although we did have to wait an hour for our room the wait was worth it. We booked a corner room with a view to die for. Watching the sunset and seeing the city light up from the 23rd floor was ultimately the highlight of our stay. Now the room we were happy to wait an hour for was simple and elegant but once we moved the door to the bath room our mouths dropped. Ceiling to floor windows show casing darling harbour and city I was lost for words. I will say it’s shame the fireworks were not on this particular weekend that would have been a show worth watching from the bath tub. Room service was on point and I would highly recommend. We could have had dinner downstairs but we wanted to enjoy the room and the view. Now the food was highly priced but being a luxury hotel well worth it. The food was amazing we ordered once that evening and twice the next morning for breakfast. Being on the 23rd floor our food was still hot and enjoyable. Something most hotels seem to fail to accomplish but not the Sofitel 100% successful. Overall the hotel deserves being a 5star establishment. So if your willing to spend that little bit extra to get an amazing memorable experience I highly recommend staying here close to everything walking distance to many things to see and do or just sit back, relax and enjoy the hotel’s facilities up to you. Can’t wait to go back again.

Location alone is enough for one to pick this hotel. View over darling harbor from the panoramic window is worth it. Rooms, though not large, are clean and service is good.

Beautiful hotel but disturbed by building works

This is a beautiful hotel and well located in Darling Harbour. We responded to an email offer to upgrade to a corner room which gave great views across the marina to cockle bay. I was of course expecting a city scape but had not been told I would be beside a very busy building site which operated from 7-30 to at least 5pm. Although the room is well sound proofed you could still hear the start of the noise and the noise made use of the pool and sun loungers unpleasant. It was disappointing that my key was deactivated before check out meaning I had to go to reception in swimwear to have it reactivated especially as I had already responded to a message asking for our intended check out time. Our room was gorgeous and the bed very comfortable. The concierge staff were excellent with recommendations and securing excellent tables for us at nearby restaurants.

Husband and I decided on a last minute trip to Sydney and decided on 5 star for a couple of days. I appreciate that 5 star looks different from place to place, I found myself dissapointed. Whilst we found the central location very handy, and the breakfast very ample and good. There were some aspects lacking. The treating and concierge was 5 star, all good. The lobby toilet I used on check out was feral with used toilet paper on the seat. Signs for overseas guests are required. Our room had view of another hotel pool. Room was clean, but there was a hole in bath towel and pillow case. Coffee machine leaked and no milk provided or information on obtaining some. Rooms were quiet and minimal door slamming. Beds and showers comfortable. Staff at pool was a rude person. Limited cocktails, very windy and screaming splashing kids saw us last 10 minutes. At breakfast, overseas guests with disgusting table manners is not the hotel fault, but little kids running around squealing and tripping people continued after being reported. All staff were same nationality as overseas guests so they just seemed to placate them. Not my vibe so I’ll go elsewhere.
