ibis Skopje City Center 4 stars

Overall, our stay at Ibis was great! Ibis is not a luxury hotel, but the location can't be beat and the value for the modest price is excellent. We arrived early and they greeted us with early check-in and a complementary breakfast that hit the spot. Our room was small, but very clean, with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was the same every day, but was a great array of bacon, eggs, waffles, cold cuts, olives, cheese, coffee, juice, bread and more. Our only issue was in the hotel not running our pre-booked charge at the time we booked the room several weeks before our trip. The room rate was only charged on our card at the time of check-in, which because of fluctuating exchange rate meant we ended up paying more for the room than if it had been charged at the time of our booking. Confusing practice.

The lady who checked me in was very helpful. The other staff members were also personable and efficient. The room was comfortable and clean.

I was slightly concerned having had a poor experience at the Ibis in Vienna last year and just coming from 2 Mercure hotels, but I shouldn't have worried. This Ibis has the usual corporate decor, but is a better standard than many of it's sister hotels. For a start you can park right outside, yes there's a charge but it's worth it as your are right in the heart of a capital city. When you enter the lobby it's large and modern, with plenty of seating either inside or on a terrace at the rear. The rooms are better kitted out than some Ibis, with kettle and surprisingly most comfortable bed of our 4 hotels in the Balkans (Ibis in Vienna had a terrible bed , so this was a great relief!). Yes there are still issues....... try having a shower without soaking the bathroom and a glass door to the toilet isn't great when sharing with my wife and child. Overall the room was acceptable and connecting door to the 2nd room was a bonus so we weren't separated. Breakfast was good too. A nice cold selection of fruit pastries and cold cheese/meat, plus a few hot items (sausage, bacon and omelette - plain or with peppers). I actually preferred it to the breakfast at the Mercure in Prishtina! Finally my thanks to Marjan, who welcomed us warmly on arrival and took care of is during our stay. He's a five star member of the team here and really goes above and beyond to make sure guests are happy. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Skopje, which was our favorite of the 3 capitals we visited on our Balkan tour.

Great location. 2mins to the centre. Staff were friendly and helpful. Accommodating our needs including early check-in in and holding our luggage after check out. Stayed with family, they made sure we had joining rooms.
