Stayed here one night for business. Hotel is located in an isolated in industrial area. Parking good and check in was pleasant enough but encountered poor staff attitude and poor facilities for the price. Pick a hotel closer to the city that cares about you as a paying guest!

Stayed for the murder mystery night from boo king in to checking out we had a fantastic stay the hotel was clean smelt lovey afternoon tea was beautiful so was evening meal breakfast was exceptionally good staff where friendly and couldn't do enough for us over all brilliant stay would definitely stay again

Not up to standard

Disappointed overall. Accessible room was nice for myself and my grandma however would have been nice to have had a kettle and pillows were uncomfortable and too big. Noise throughout the night in what I believe was some kind of ventilator in the ceiling? We came for the Murder Mystery night and was very disappointed with the food. Starter of soup was nice but my main of Pork was cold and tough. I requested for my meal to be heated up and the staff did this. The lady’s who were serving and also who were on reception that evening were really nice. My gran had fish and chips but she was also disappointed with the quality of this. My lemon meringue pie was still frozen in the middle and my grans crumble was cold. Other people on my table also commented on their deserts being cold. We don’t intend on returning to this hotel but thank you to the staff for their attentiveness as a positive (front of house).

The hotel appears to be a relatively new build on the edge of a business park just off the M1. I was allocated a third floor room at the back of the property and the room was good, modern and clean. The view from the room was not appealing, being a container yard complete with railway siding. Around 11pm, the noise from the container yard increased significantly. The JCB was manoeuvring around the yard and was lifting and dropping containers from a height causing a hell of a lot of noise. Unfortunately, Mercure appear to have not invested in soundproofed windows and this noise continued until I could take no more. I called reception and they said that the container yard should have stopped working at 11pm and they had the council out to speak to the yard owners on many occasions as the hotel received so many complaints about the noise. To the Mercure’s credit, they changed my room to a front facing room around 2am. However, unless the hotel are prepared to upgrade their windows to ones with soundproofing, I don’t think they should be selling rear facing rooms. I spoke to the container yard company the next day and they said that the Mercure had lied by saying they had to finish work at 11pm, they had planning permission to work 24/7. So in summary, the hotel is pretty average and non-descript but if you’re allocated a rear facing room, ask to change to a front facing one before it’s too late.
Good Afternoon Darren, The hotel has been open for 13 years and recently re opened from been shut for covid for 2 years and within this time the container yard has restarted operating. Please rest assured that we are taking the appropriate measures to address the problem and are in regular contact with the local council to solve the issue. I had a brilliant stay, the hotel was very clean and the staff were really friendly. I really liked the intention to detail, the weekly fire alarm was a personal favourite but in all seriousness I would definitely recommend this hotel.
