A great hotel in a beautiful city. Very comfortable room, well appointed and probably the best shower I have had anywhere. Very friendly and helpful staff, efficient valet parking and a great buffet breakfast. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone.

I stayed in at this hotel with a good friend of mine for four nights in February 2025, and had a lovely stay. I was initially drawn to this hotel because it was the nicest in Rennes, and they offered a nice Junior Suite with terrace that looked nice. A few months before our arrival, I saw that they had just built a new section of the hotel (Maison Balthazar) that included apartments with kitchens, and we noticed there was even a two bedroom option, which was perfect for the two of us traveling together, and even better was the fact that it was essentially the same price as the Junior Suite. Our main motivation in changing to the two bedroom apartment was to have a kitchen so we could cook, and the kitchen really suited us and our cooking needs. We were warmly greeted when we arrived at the main hotel building and someone helped wheel our bags across the street and up the block a bit to the annex building that contained the apartments. The renovation looked beautiful, and our apartment was amazing. It included a nice, well-equipped kitchen that had everything one could possibly need, a large living/dining area, two bedrooms, a water closet, and bathroom with tub and walk-in shower. Even cooler was the combo washer/dryer in the bathroom with free detergent pods for us to use (to note, this was not even advertised and we were so pleasantly surprised to have this!). Also awaiting us when we arrived as a bottle of wine, crackers, baguette, a seafood rillette, and some other little goodies to snack on. Everything in the apartment was great; the beds were comfortable, there were plenty of windows, three TV's, etc. We were even surprised to find typical high end hotel amenities in the apartment such as bathrobes, slippers, bathroom products, and even more surprised to find that the room was cleaned daily and our free minibar (waters, sodas, and juices) was also restocked everyday. We only ever went to the main hotel building once to inquire about a taxi and have our welcome drinks at the bar, and the space itself is beautiful and well-maintained, and the staff is quite impressive. I only have one thing to share (not a complaint, just a "warning") which is just that the bedrooms in the two bedroom apartment are very small. We had a lot of luggage, and there was unfortunately no space to put the luggage except in the small space on the floor not covered by the bed, so we had to use our gymnastic skills to get around the room. Would I have done anything different knowing what I know now? Probably not! But we were a little surprised when we were arrived, but we got used to it and it did not pose any issues for us.

5 stars . Nice Ambiente. Well trained staff. Nice quite rooms . Absolute noise cancelling windows , very nice for „ Nightowls „ like me . ( comes from Job ). Breakfast delicious. Staff smiles and serves you nearly every wish. The lady operating the hot orders ( eggs etc) „chapo“ —very nice done and very tasteful. Selection very nice and sufficient. Rooms are quite , bed relaxing , bathroom nice and modern. Bit dark cause in rooms, i had 115,215,315 etc only one fully open window to small balcony , still sometimes its very dark and smells bit weired . But housekeeping very attentive and clean . Reception is magnific … waiters and other staff fast , effective , well behaved and super friendly . Very happy with this hotel .

We were on our way back from the Brittany coast and we stopped in Rennes for one night, staying at the Balthazar. Hotel was a bit tricky to drive to because of street closures and restrictions. Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Because we were leaving very early in the morning, we couldn’t use the valet parking service but one of the bellmen accompanied and directed me to a nearby self-park garage. I considered this going above and beyond. We had lunch in the hotel restaurant and thought the food was quite good. The rooms and public spaces are very stylish and clean. Rooms were a little on the small side but well lit and furnished. The WC in our room was separated by several steps from the room with the sink and shower. A bit unusual but in no way a deal-breaker. We would have been happy to spend more time in Rennes at the Balthazar.

Wonderful modern hotel in central part of Rennes; very close to the old town and railway station. Rooms are somewhat small, but this was totally compensated by their spa facility, which was a great way to relax after sightseeing/before dinner.
