I stayed at this hotel for one night with friends as we were going to a going at the O2 It is central, but the walk up the hill was 10 minutes and I'm not very fit. Check in / bar staff, really lovely. The double room was big, and despite lots of lights, it was still quite dark. The bed was ok, not terrible or amazing. The bathroom was well equipped, good lighting in here to do make up. My only real gripe were the pillows, they were all very fat and firm, I know some people like these, but if I stay again, I would take my own. I like a choice of flat and or soft ones. I didn't have breakfast so can't comment. The drinks at the bar were expensive but on a par with most hotels. One tip, ask for a room that doesn't face the street. Although the windows were good at sound proofing, Birmingham is still a city and there is a bit of noise.

Bring your own hairdryer!

The room was ok - clean and quiet although could do with a little TLC. Bed was very comfortable though. Breakfast looked so uninspiring that I preferred to get a coffee and croissant from Starbucks rather than pay £12 in the hotel. Only other gripe was the useless hairdryer which only blew out cold air - not a fault apparently because all hairdryers in this place are the same - for “safety reasons” according to the front desk. Hopefully the kettle and steam iron also provided in the room are not as useless or maybe they also don’t heat up for safety reasons? I have never seen this in any other hotel in the world - why does this one treat its guests like 5 year olds??

Bed uncomfortable. Sofa bed blocking getting to window and desk/dressing table Lighting is shocking, cant see much at all. Windows have something open you cant shut so noisy with Road and cars driving past all night . Room so hot you have to use aircon in the winter? Only one lift so you have ro wait ages to get one going your way that has room. Only reason booked was for Benson boon which got cancelled so not happy wasted the money £200 on this hotel for nothing

This was our second time there as it is so convenient. Just a few minutes walk from the train station and close to the utilita arena. The room was spotless with a big comfy bed and a good shower. The breakfast we thought was very good you could have anything from fresh fruit to a fry up and even had a pancake warmer and nice selection of muffins and other bakery stuff. Great value for money and will definitely be booking there again

The good: The hotel was clean. The not so good: Breakfast ranks among one of the worst of my hotel experiences. The choice of cereals was clearly chosen by someone with a sweet tooth, everything contained added sugar. The cooked breakfast was a choice of sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, baked beans. Ok... The sausages were cheap and mostly grey rusk. The egg was clearly made from powder and had a rubbery texture. I didn't risk the beans, as they had dark lumps which looked like where they'd stuck to the sides of the pan and been stirred in. The bacon was ok and breakfast resulted in bacon in a bit of baguette. The room was clean with a reasonable shower, but the view was a sea of industrial rooftops and totally uninspiring. The street on which the hotel is located was somewhat of a back ally, full of litter and felt a bit dodgy, especially at night. The lift has a button missing on the control panel - normally I could have turned a blind eye to it, but it was the alarm button!
