High Expectations Dissappointing Results

When I stay at a Pullman I have high expectations and the reputation of Pullman Hyde Park gave me confidence that my expectations would be met. However: 1. My initial Impression was check in where there was no assistance with my bags - although the girl was polite. 2. I then moved my car to the car park which was filthy (discarded rubber/surgical gloves; litter takeaway food wrapping all over the place, floor covered in drink or other liquid stains - just an over view). 3. Went to my room and the toilet didn't flush - 2 days t fix with me flushing the toilet with the kettle. 4. Wanted to take a bottle of wine up to my room after dinner. After a couple of days, I found out that they were charging me restaurant prices and if I ordered as room service, the wine was $20 cheaper. On the next night, I asked if I could get the cheaper price if I ordered and took it up with me. The girl enquired and while I was accommodated, I was asked a few times who told me - it felt like an interrogation so they could punish the person. While the room itself was otherwise comfortable and the staff in general were polite - what I just described makes this a poor experience. I get it that the CORONA Virus response means a wound back service and I appreciate the pressure that the team is under to meet requirements for safety. But … I'll leave it at that.
Not quite ready post COVID

We were very excited to have our first weekend away in 3 months, post COVID. Unfortunately the hotel was not quite ready for guests. The bar and restaurant were not open, the cafe was only open from 7am-6pm and the staffing was too low. Whilst it is difficult for hotels to deal with low occupancy post COVID, providing a lower level of service will not encourage guests to stay. Closed services should be advised by email when guests have made a booking, to manage expectations. We had a confirmed dinner booking that was cancelled at 3.30pm because the cafe was not open. We were offered room service or to sit alone in the cafe but we can do that at home. Luckily after making several phone calls we got a booking at Diethnes.
Average in every way

Just really average from the check in experience to the overall service levels. It’s a 3 star hotel from my experience. Good location and everything else is just average at best. Much better hotels to stay in around Sydney CBD than this one.

Very comfy room on the executive floor overlooking Hyde Park. Enjoyed the drinks and canapes in the Executive lounge. Very friendly stall and always helpful. A big surprise for my wife was the birthday cake, very nice. Thank you.
Not quite the stay we expected

We had booked 3 nights at the Pullman. When we arrived it was a bit early to check in so we went to the café to get some lunch. We were able to get into our room a bit before 2pm. The room was nice, very spacious and a lovely view over hyde park, however we didn't even stay one night, as when we returned from dinner, we discovered there was no hot water, and hadn't been any all day. We were not told this when we checked in, and there was no assurances that the issue would be fixed by the next morning. We did also hear from another guest that they had only had one hot shower in the last 3 days, so it was definitely a major issue. To the Pullman's credit they did offer to move us that night, and after some deliberation we decided to move that night. Pullman moved us to their sister property Swisotel in Market street and paid for the taxi to get us there. the next day we did get a call to tell us that the issues had been resolved and they would love for us to return. I am sure that we would have gotten an upgrade, and maybe other extras, but my husband didn't want the hassle of repacking and moving again so we stayed where we were. I would consider booking with the Pullman again, as they did their best to accommodate us.
