Enjoyed our stay thoroughly however!

My family, of four & my husband stayed on a 3 night package stay for my 75 th birthday, which was excellent. Unfortunately the connecting flight we were on was cancelled due to bad weather & we missed our flight and our first night there. One of the family was staying with us so our accomodation stayed the same as their flight was not cancelled. However we had booked on a Field of Light with dinner excursion that evening. My son explained what had happened. & staff assured him it would not be a problem as they could book us on at another time. Unfortunately with time restraints another tour including dinner was not available to us, however we were able to do a field of light tour which was fantastic, & we were told we would get a refund for the meal componant. I attended the Voyages office in the village & was told the same thing, that staff at the hotel would credit my Visa card & told me the amount we should receive. At checkout they assured me the amount would be credited . After returning home after several weeks & no credit was forthcoming on my Visa card I have contacted the hotel requesting a explanation, to be told now that because the tour was booked through a third party agent, which they were aware of at the time, we have to take it up with them. The staff at the hotel facilitated the the change & we were told their outdoor catering staff were responsible for the dinner , so that was the appropriate course of action. It has been disappointing when we were short changed through no ones fault on what was otherwise a very memorable birthday trip.

Nice stay at Sails in the Desert (Ayers Rock Resort)

Our family stated at the Sails in the Desert hotel in Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) for three nights in early March. The complimentary shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel was welcomed after a long day of travel, The room was comfortable and the breakfast and dinner buffets were very good, with a nice selection of items. The take out breakfast we were given one morning for an early tour of Ayers Rock was not so great, however. In addition, while the hotel had a nice, free laundromat, the "wrinkle free" setting on the dryer gave us the most (and worst!) wrinkles we've ever seen on our clothes, including several "wrinkle free" shirts and pants. Oh well. All in all, however, we had a very nice stay and were very impressed with how friendly and helpful the hotel and restaurant staff were during our visit. Would definitely stay again!

What an oasis here in the desert. Lovely environment , clean large room ,excellent breakfast and amazing buffet dinner. Loved our too short holiday here with our tour group but would recommend to anyone. We particularly enjoyed the large open space around the pool .

Really appreciated the high standard of this place given its location. It is expensive but if you like a 5-star place you will appreciate it. Superbly comfortable bed, large room and balcony all well appointed. Excellent bathroom with hand and overhead rain shower. Quiet. Complementary airport transfers to all the hotels at Yulara.

Nice Hotel - Indifferent Staff

I was trying to think of the right word or phrase to describe some (not all, but a significant number) of the staff attitude towards their guests. Indifference was the best that I could come up with. There seemed to be no great desire to solve a problem only to “move you on” to someone else or somewhere else. At check in (14:30), we asked reception to book a tour for me, would be charged to my room, and details put in the room. After our sunset tour, no message so went back to reception. No record of my conversation, no tour booked and no way of contacting the tour company. Told to just turn up and see if there was space (at 5am!) We ate in the restaurant the first night, food was generally plentiful but if anything ran out it was too bad and “there will be some later”. The food was OK but more quantity than quality. Not cheap at $100 per head. We watched people eating from the bar menu and food took 30-60 minutes to arrive and one couple had their meals 30 minutes apart. No explanation or apology. Attracting staff was a challenge and they were very good at looking busy to ignore you. If you tried to get a drink at the bar you were sent away being told it was “table service only”. The public WiFi only works in your room. When I asked reception which one to use I was told “it doesn’t work as too many people are using it”can I say, at 4:30 in the morning it still doesn’t work! Don’t explain it doesn’t work, get it fixed! As I say, indifference. On the plus side the bedroom and general facilities are great. The pool area is lovely, as were the staff there. The room was cleaned and made up really well. Only 3 minutes from the town square where there are cafes and restaurants only too pleased to have your custom. My recommendation, eat out! The
