The rooms are spacious the staff totally welcoming. The food and prices are an absolute disgrace. How can you charge so much for poor quality food . Hot dog and fries were bad enough £ 14, my wife’s chicken Caesar £18 had no chicken in it !! Complained to duty manager Howard who in fairness was polite but zero refund he’s not authorised to give refunds . Staff obviously run by a faceless head office . We stop in Mercure hotels an awful lot but this place is taking the ****!

My better half had a business day here, which she paid for, and I dropped her off and unloaded her gear. The hotel assured everyone that we could unload without fear of a parking charge - and 20 mins later I was gone. Their parking company has sent me threatening letters since that day, possibly ten in total with the latest arriving today. No matter who I contact at the hotel and how much they assure me it’s in hand, the letters do not stop. It begs the question as to whether The Mercure actually care about how their parking company is behaving with their customers, as some would have caved in by now and paid, a portion of which would go to the hotel surely?.

We enjoyed our stay here. Lovely clean room, with coffee/tea making facilities, including decaf coffee, which is rare in some hotels. Full size ironing board, and iron if needed. Hairdryer supplied too. Massive tv, and a fan for warmer days. Breakfast was superb. Only complaint from us, was that the toilet roll in holder, was virtually empty. There was a fresh roll, but I really think, a new one should have been replenished before our stay.

Stayed at this hotel for second time to go to chester races. Excellent location as bus into Chester 100 yes down the road. Hotel very clean, staff very helpful and friendly, breakfast excellent. Will be back again next year, for the races and maybe for some Xmas shopping this year

Lovely clean room with complimentary freshly laundered gowns and towels and nice bathroom supplies. Coffee machine with courtesy pods and an a mini fridge with courtesy bottled water and soda drinks. Unable to order food between 7 pm and 8pm due to a large party. We decided to eat in the bar area and ate an evening meal of shared ‘sides’ from the menu and found this to be basic at best; would recommend ordering food from one of the delivery apps and eat in hotel room (which we observed other guests doing), wished we had done the same! The bar ‘ran out’ of all draught lagers by 7pm. Friendly staff and a good selection at breakfast.
