Stayed here for the first time in a good few years. Bedrooms are a little dated but still acceptable but probably due a refurb before too long - No electric sockets near the bed in my room was probably the biggest pain point but not a major issue. Ate in the bar and food choices, quality and prices were good. Best feature of the hotel are the staff - Rarely have I encountered such friendly, helpful and attentive staff in all areas of a hotel. Made me feel very welcome and valued as a customer

Nice warm room.Very handidly placed for the motorway.Reception staff very professional and friendly.A very enjoyable stay.Also a big plus is that they are dog friendly.They have ample space in the grounds and car park to let dog off lead.

The staff are good.the facilities in the pool changing rooms were filthy. There is several years of grime in each shower cubicle. There are no seats in the grounds at all ( unbelievable). We have stayed several times but this one was the last.

We have stayed in this hotel on two occasions before, it is very convenient and suited our purpose. However the food for the evening menu was not very good. The breakfast was excellent though and the Staff were very helpful and attentive

Sadly, we did not get to stay at the Mercure Bolton as it was overbooked. The online booking system accepted my booking, but upon arrival I was informed that due to issue with the booking system the hotel was full and i could not stay there. This is very poor Accor. If I could give you zero marks I would!! Dire

Room was poor as it was in desperate need of updating. Chair had a large rip in it, Wardrobe had holes and the bathroom needed modernising or at least painted as it had flaked away in quite a few places. If you want an evening meal make sure you take some extra food. Ordered the curry and got 4 small pieces of chicken, 8 chips and a small spoon of rice. The naan bread was bite sized, so not value for money.

Arrived 745am but allowed us into the room for a £20 surcharge. Good value. We were staying 2 nights and we knew that on the morning of our departure it would be too early for breakfast. They kindly allowed us to have a breakfast on the day of check in instead . The boy on reception was definately on the "right bus"

Staff are very good, food had issues, room was dirty, we pointed out issues with food on 1st night and staff went the extra mile on the 2nd night, but with the other issues we had still made it feel that the birthday weekend trip for my partner got spoilt

We booked a one night stay in a classic double room through the Mercure website. Personally choose this hotel as it looked like it had boutique vibes. On our arrival we were given room 443. Our first impression was the room was much smaller than we were expecting and looked nothing like the photos online. Instead it was old fashioned and we felt like we had gone back in time. Definitely not stylish like they state on the website. Secondly, our room was on the top floor and faced the main road. Again, the website states most rooms have a view of the countryside, we did not have a nice view. The website also states you will have a great night's sleep. Due to the noise from the A6, myself and my partner were unable to sleep. There were lorries going past all night long. Request a room at the back of the hotel. The mattress was comfortable at least. The room was really hot due to there being a heatwave and no air con or fan provided. We ordered the room service and it was really good - we ordered the pizza and a beverage for £15.95. The spa/pool is free access 8am-9pm I think but we did not use these facilities. Overall really disappointed with the stay, we have contacted the hotel since our departure to give them this feedback.

The Hotel is perfectly adequate for the price at only £69 per night including breakfast. Bar and public area's a bit sparse, plain and simple but again adequate , Bedrooms a bit tired and in need of redecoration . Paint peeling off the wall and off the skirting in the bathroom. However the bed was large and comfortable and the room clean. As mentioned Ok for the price as paid.

We booked the upgraded double which was a nice size room. The room wasn't perfect as there were a few cobwebs and cracked paint on the ceilings and walls. The mattress and pillows were not great quality which resulted in a poor night's sleep for us both. We were meant to get a newspaper in the morning but it wasn't there when we went to check at 8.30am. I mentioned this at reception and was told that it was likely that someone picked it up when walking past the room. We did however enjoy the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna and I also received a very good facial and massage from Karen in their spa. Breakfast was very good with a lot to choose from however it was a little overpriced at £11 per head. Overall we had a nice stay and as we live not too far away we will definitely be back to use there spa services.

Friendly helpful staff. We received a complimentary upgrade to a stylishly refurbished suite. Plenty of free on site parking. Very competitively priced. A few signs of wear and tear in some communal areas but generally very good. We enjoyed a pleasant meal in the restaurant . We will return if was come back to the area.

I found the room very basic, not even travelodge standard and very very dated. Also, why hotels decide to remove plug sockets from the sides of the beds is totally beyond me. Yes this may save you a few pounds in electricity but also means I wont be staying here again..On a positive note the food is above average and the staff were quite friendly and helpful

Stayed one night as we had an event to go to the One bar/restaurant, so in easy walking distance. The room was very dated and in need of updating. It was also very hot, the heat hit it you as soon as you opened the door. We ate the bar the food was very good.

I recently stayed here for 2 nights with my wife, not a good visit + Good rate +Room upgrade +Food -Poor staff at the bar, not very professional and forgetful -No house keeping for 3 days, issue with milk no stay seemed to know were any milk was,took an hour on day 1 for extra milk and nearly an hour on day 2 for extra milk -Bad breakfast experience, staff not very nice serving and welcome, we felt as if we were a burden,ask for fried eggs and the server was put out and didn't say a thing went brought to table, felt she didn't want us to be there So overall not a got visit. I have stayed in many Mercure hotels (over 300 nights across the country) and can say this was my worst experince Probably won't return to Bolton

I have personally looked into this matter as this is not our norm of our in house Housekeeping team. Through your stay we did had housekeeping on site. On the day of arrival the room is clean and ready for you to enjoy, unless something is requested housekeeping will not go to the room on the first night. On your second day our Housekeeping went several times through the day and a Do Not Disturb sign was outside the door, therefore housekeeping will not go in. Your third day was your departure day. I have also shared your feedback with our Food and Beverage Manager as normally we have extremely positive feedback in our Food and Beverage team. Generally well up to Mercure standards of room etc. staff excellent very welcoming and ultra professional, they really care! Especially the restaurant and kitchen staff - lamb shank to die for! Couple of minor niggles, the shower seemed short on pressure and the loo was sometimes reluctant to flush, neither so severe as to warrant asking to swap rooms, mentioned them to staff on departure and they promised to have maintenance check them out - that's what we expect. My real grouse was the breakfast and lack of consistency across the estate, cereals and hot food great and plenty of it, my love of the Mercures especially Southampton is the great range of cold meats, cheeses etc as in Europe, this was conspicuous by its absence as were yoghurts, fresh fruit etc. I hope this is down to regional / local demand or management decisions and not becoming the norm or it will be a sad day for the chain. Otherwise as good as usual.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very tasty, staff working in the breakfast room also very friendly, stopping here again in a couple of weeks. The rooms are clean, modern and tidy. We were in the roof and the room was spacious, even had a sofa.
