DO NOT BOOK. ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES.

Nota Tripadvisor 1.0/5

Eddee14 Friends getaway - Avaliação com certificação TripAdvisor

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL UNTIL AT LEAST JAN 2023!!! We arrived at this hotel at 6pm and were greeted by the reception staff in a friendly manner. We were asked for our name and they gave us our keys. That is the extent of the conversation we had. We were then woken up at 0800 the next day by no fewer than FOUR drills and at least two people hammering. It turns out, that “short notice” works, which started in AUGUST 2022 had been planned and will happen Monday - Saturday from the early morning until late afternoon EVERY SINGLE WEEK. At no point did the staff warn us of this. There were 2 signs, which were small and not noticeable nor were they pointed out to us. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING of this on either Expedia (who we booked through) or on Ibis’s website itself. I have never visited a hotel before that did not advertise works going on that may disrupt your stay. This hotel is taking bookings deceptively without being honest about what is going on. They are nothing short of crooks. When we approached the manager about what he was going to do about our issues, in essence to refund us, he turned round and said that because we had stayed (what choice did we have really?) he wouldn’t do anything. No complimentary breakfast, no apology absolutely nothing. He would only give his first name of Fred, which I’m not even sure is true, and he is single handedly the worst manager and customer service representative I have ever met. I will never book an Ibis hotel again. I am still waiting for Expedia to refund me as I hope they have more decency and honesty than Ibis do.

Dear Eddee14, Thank you very much for taking the time to express your disappointment with your recent visit. Firstly, let me apologise once more for the disturbance caused by the current building renovation works. As we've discussed when you raised your concerns after, the hotel isn’t responsible for the way those works are advertised online and you can rest assured that your feedback has been forwarded to our Head Office so they can take all appropriate actions to prevent re-occurrence. At hotel level, we have clearly displayed signs at Reception and in the Lifts to inform our guests that noise disruption will occur Monday to Friday between 8:30am until 4:30pm and Saturday from 11:00am till 3:30pm. I apologise if you found my behaviour unprofessional which I was shocked and upset to read since I constantly receive positive guests' feedback about my helpful & friendly service. Thanks again for sharing your concerns as those are invaluable in our effort to continuously improve the quality of our facilities and services. We hope that we’ll have the opportunity to welcoming you back in the future for a more peaceful time. Kind regards, Frederic Dumont General Manager

Do NOT stay during the ***unadvertised*** building works

AVOID WHILE THE BUILDING WORKS ARE BEING DONE. The hotel should be closed. As I write this there are 2 different drills going and one hammer banging away. When we booked this hotel there was no mention of any building work being done and nothing was said by the very sheepish reception staff when we arrived. We came for a relaxing city break to Manchester and have been woken up every morning at 8:30 by banging and drilling. The drilling is so loud it makes the ceiling shake and is impossible to ignore. Tradesmen also wander around on the scaffolding outside your bedroom window which is wonderful. I appreciate they can’t help that the work needs to be done but I would never have stayed here if I’d have known, which is probably why they don’t mention it anywhere when you book the room. Speaking of the room, the carpet is filthy, the bed is rock solid, the pillow is a bizarre rectangle which is simultaneously too hard and too soft, the toilet smells like a public toilet, the shower has no pressure and the hot water smells like eggs. Location’s alright though

Dear Skeletor1986, Many thanks for letting us know about your dissatisfaction with your recent stay. I apologise if, on this occasion, you couldn't enjoy a peaceful time due to the disturbance caused by the current building renovation works. Unfortunately, those have been planned at short notice by our Head Office and as a matter of urgency. Signs have clearly been displayed at Reception and in the Lifts to inform our guests that noise disruption will occur Monday to Friday between 8:30am until 4:30pm and on Saturday from 11:00am till 3:30pm. I'm sorry for the lack of information provided on the website at the time of booking but since the hotel isn’t responsible for the way those works are advertised online, rest assured that your feedback has been forwarded to our Head Office so they can take all needed actions to prevent re-occurrence. I apologise if the standard of the room wasn't to your satisfaction nor to our usual high standards. Our Head Housekeeper and Maintenance Engineer have been informed about your findings and they will do whatever is necessary to avoid similar occurrences. Thank you again for raising your concerns as they will certainly help us in our constant aim to improve the quality of our products and services. We hope that you'll give us the chance to seeing you back in the future for a quieter experience. Kind regards, Frederic Dumont General Manager

Great location but street noise very loud

Nota Tripadvisor 4.0/5

ShelbyMJ Friends getaway - Avaliação com certificação TripAdvisor

Great location, able to walk everywhere. Clean, room and a good size. Kettle and tea/coffee in room. Only complaint was that it was very noisy at night. Street noise was too much at times and difficult to sleep. Close to train station and trams which was very convenient.

Dear ShelbyMJ, Thank you for giving us some feedback about your recent stay. I'm pleased that our central location was convenient and that our facilities met your needs. However, I'm sorry to hear that you were disturbed through the night by the external street noise. Because of our location in the city centre, it can be difficult to stop all outside nuisance although all our rooms are equipped with double glazing windows and complimentary ear plugs are available at Reception. I apologise if this wasn't sufficient on this occasion. May I mention that some of our rooms are facing the back of our hotel and tend to be quieter but, as their availability is limited, we would advise guests to ask for those prior to arrival so they can be pre-allocated. Thanks again for sharing some thoughts and we look forward to welcoming you back for an even more pleasant time. Kind regards, Frederic Dumont General Manager

Woken to drilling and banging and room was not clean! hair in bed, shower and on toilet seat

Before you book, be aware of the work that is taking place and the early start that will wake you up, they really should inform you of the work being carried out on the property before payment being taken, however if they did , I guess you wouldn't book, it looks more like a building site outside and being woken to drilling and banging isn't what you expect at 8:45, no mention even when your in reception area. Room needed a proper clean, been done on the quick, hair on toilet seat, in shower and in the bed! the headboard also was not pleasant ! lotion hand prints and something else on it ! Hotel is aware of my complaint and have all the photos I have posted on my reviews. offered me a £19 refund of a £95 payment which I have refused, complaint is now with head office, but no response as yet. Sad to say I wouldn't recommend this hotel on my stay, couldn't wait to leave.

Dear 207grahamc, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your latest stay with us. Firstly, let me clarify that we have discussed the matter further and reached a mutual agreement to close this case, although you had already sprayed your complaint on various social medias so the damage is done. Nonetheless, I am still sorry for the disturbance you've experienced in the morning caused by the current building renovation works. Signs have clearly been displayed at Reception and in the Lifts to inform our guests that noise disruption will occur Monday to Friday between 8:30am until 4:30pm. I apologise for the lack of information provided on the website at the time of booking but since the hotel isn’t responsible for the way those works are advertised online, rest assured that your feedback has been forwarded to our Head Office so they can take all appropriate actions to prevent similar occurrence. I'm also sorry to hear about the shortfall in our cleanliness standard you've noticed on this occasion. Our Head Housekeeper has been informed so all needed measures will be taken so it doesn't happen again. However, I’m surprised that you only reported your findings at check-out. Indeed, would you have raised the issues to Reception when you noticed them, the Team would have offered you alternative options (i.e. move rooms…) in order to make your stay much more pleasant. Thanks again for sharing your concerns as this will truly help us in our constant effort to improve the quality of our products and services. We hope that you'll give us the chance to welcoming you back in the future for a more peaceful and hassle-free time. Kind regards, Frederic Dumont General Manager

Disappointing. Don't waste your money 💰

veskar2021 Avaliação com certificação TripAdvisor

We were there for a night only. Thanks God we were not for longer. First the hotel advertises as having a car park - there is not, so you need to pay for a public carpark, which is £15 for 24 h. Second - no water pressure in the bathroom - there was no possible to take a shower. And the last, but not least we were woken up 8 o'clock in the morning by deafening noise from a construction work in the hotel. Of course that was not mentioned when I did the booking, not when we checked in. We payed £65 for overnight. No breakfast either. Better find something else.

Dear Veskar 2021, Thanks for expressing your disappointment with your latest stay. I'm sorry to hear that, on this occasion, we failed to meet your expectations. Firstly, as you've mentioned, the hotel doesn't have a Parking so we wouldn't advertise differently. We advise the University Car Park on Charles Street which is located opposite the hotel as it is the closest but also the cheapest in the area, even at £15- for 24 hours. Secondly, I apologise if there was an issue with the water pressure in your shower. Would you have reported the matter to the Team, we would have offered you various solutions (i.e. fix the problem, change room...) in order to make your experience more enjoyable. Finally, I'm sorry for the disturbance in the morning caused by the current building renovation works. Unfortunately, those have been planned at short notice by our Head Office and as a matter of urgency. Signs have clearly been displayed at Reception and in the Lifts to inform our guests that noise disruption will occur Monday to Friday between 8:30am until 4:30pm. I apologise for the lack of information provided on the website at the time of booking but since the hotel isn’t responsible for the way those works are advertised online, rest assured that your feedback has been forwarded to our Head Office so they can take all needed actions to prevent re-occurrence. Thanks again for letting us know your thoughts as those are invaluable in our effort to continuously improve the quality of our facilities and services. We truly hope that we’ll have the opportunity to welcoming you back in the future for a more peaceful time. Kind regards, Frederic Dumont General Manager
